You can use your Stay Plus on Suites but it often doesn’t give you great value. Not sure if that’s a glitch in the system or not.

My observation is that the Stay Plus in most cases works as a credit towards your booking at a value similar to the cost of the cheapest room.

I think that’s what it supposed to be but then sometimes you will see that it’s only like $100 difference or something so I presume that just the taxes.

Not taxes in my experince ... sometimes a property 'has sold out' of BOGO availability for the base room but they still have capacity for use on a higher priced room. In the $100 case that is supposed to be the difference between the two room rates.

Currently at 21,100 ~ points with another 1500 or so to be achieved by next weekend.

Probably on track to crack 26k to be diamond and plunder the fairmont gold lounge in January, but if I fall just short is there an avenue to attain diamond? I've got significant stays booked through January.

Accor need to look at the team working the Explorer portfolio. Just a huge string of marketing fails.

Ha ha same! I've decided not to renew, we did get our value out of it this year, using one stay plus at Fairmont Hanoi, and using the dining discount multiple times at Pastore in Melbourne. So we are ahead in the $ savings. We've still got one stay plus left, but couldn't find a hotel with stay plus availability or more specifically room type at the ones that were, that appealed to us for our upcoming trip to Bali to use it. We don't have time for any other stays before it expires on Oct 31. I've just joined IHG Ambassador, as have about 5 IHG bookings coming up, so will see how it compares. No discounts per say, but the room upgrades sound like they are more common than with Accor. I think the accor product has value if you know you have a high value stay coming up that you an definitely use the stay plus on, and have local establishments close by to benefit from the food and beverage discounts.
