2026 F1 Thread

Currently watching live from Switzerland. Happy to find it on free to air. Know any other countries that broadcast without a subscription?
Austria also has it on free to air (you can watch on live stream as well) - although weirdly, its split between two broadcasters. All in German, but they do actually send reporters to the track.

Kimi said before the race if I win I will eat pasta from it...thinking he had little chance at the time.

Re Tyres - I think Ted said RUS had no new mediums to put on anyway...ANT had a new set as he didnt use both in Q3, he just gave RUS a tow as he was starting at the back anyway.
All commentators said it was 50/50 call as to what was the right strategy at the time.

They built it from scratch yet Madring is such a boring track ‘home brand’ looking track. May as well have stuck it in a desert. HAM and FER never fail to ‘impress’. ‘You.have.a.right.front. puncture.box.box’
‘I see’ says HAM practically wearing it as an earring
But no penalty??

I suggest “MadRing” is a good name for it,

Ended up quite a boring race, looks like a decent facility, got big crowds but they had better change the track layout next year for better overtaking.

My highlight was NOR in the cooldown room telling the person "I just a did a race, I will drink what I want Thank You!" as he skulled a Coke. Even ANT was whispering to him cover the can.

Apparently Pepsi is the official beverage partner of F1. McLaren is sponsored by Monster/Coke..
Having never seen any Pepsi signs anywhere I had to google...STING is Pepsi's energy drink...I do recall a few of those signs at some events though didnt connect the dots. Gatorade is also Pepsi. And the official chip is Dorito's...also a Pepsi product.

I forsee an ad campaign....

Being at the track was great. I had a good seat and the access from the Metro couldn’t have been closer. Efficient train service meant there was really no waiting.

The concessions were all selling Pepsi products. Which is why I may have smuggled in my own stash of Coke Zero. ;)

Would I go again? Not in a fit. Monaco had atmosphere and character, even though I know overtaking opportunities are (very) limited.

MadRing is soulless, and no overtaking.

Surely when designing a track they can simulate some racing before they break ground and realise how cough it is.

I think it might be a case that F1 is now such a big product that the priorities for a new track (or any modifications) are, in order:

- Tv lines of sight
- corporate hospitality facilities
- concessionaires and the rent they will pay
- multi purpose use (for the other 51 weeks of the year)
- the best track for exciting F1 racing
