A reminder that not all of us in this world are frequent flyers :p
Some are just frequent watchers!

Woman at airport weekly and never flies | News.com.au

AN ELDERLY woman, who has never been on a plane, visits her airport each week.

Rosemary Bate, 71, goes to the Aviation Viewing Park at Manchester Airport in England's north-west, every weekend and watches a Cathay Pacific 747 cargo plane land.

Maybe we should all club together and buy her a seat on a flight to somewhere.

I am sure I fixed that title typo - GRRRR

Not sure if the old lady has a money issue, it could well be a case of wonder and fear of flying.

Very cool that they allowed her on board to meet the pilots. She really needs to head down to LHR and see the A380 though, if she thinks the CX plane is big ;)

I dunno, sure the A380 is big, but sometime the perspective/sense of proportion from anywhere but right next to the plane can make it seem smaller. Having watched A380 take offs followed by 747 take offs from the airport viewing area at MEL, the 747 is much more impressive in take off than the 380 - maybe it's a noise thing.

When I saw the A380 take-off in SYD the thing that amazed me was how slowly it rose into the air, as if it were really really heavy ;)

No I also think the B747 is a more impressive plane. The A380 is a big bird, but it's missing something IMHO.

After having flown to SIN on an A380, and back on a 747 (with IFE that decided it was a loop system), I'll take the A380 - and leave you guys to drool over the 747.....

I used to drool over the concorde, and so did the rest of Sydney when it came in, amazing for a piece of 1950's machinary how much of a crowd it pulled, in my time in SYD tower it was the only aircraft that had the effect of stopping general holmes drive.

Point taken about the interior, but I have to agree that from the outside the 747 is a better looker than the 380...perhaps we're just so used to it after ~40 years (is it really that old - wow).

No drooling either way. Just because something is good to fly doesn't mean its that impressive to watch. Much rather fly on the A380. Quieter and newer. Much rather watch a 747 take off, much noisier as the big bird screams past.

Having said that, I think the A380 from a viewing point is more impressive end on than side on - when you get a full rear or frontal view of the wings, that's impressive.

But trying to stay OT, our original plane spotter would probably get a buzz out of seeing it anyway.
