Possibly the Basil Fawlty effect that's brought on by the behaviour of management?Post updated.
But why does it still look and feel like a relic from the 1970s?
How stressful for you @Phoenix-1 - I guess you now have a fair level of uncertainty about whether that booking will stick and what they will try to charge you for it.
I have stayed at this property once and never would again.
It is anunrenovateduncomfortable relic from the 1970s.
If I were in your position I would definitely be looking for an alternative.
NCAT/VCAT is usually pretty quick with arranging hearings. Might still get your trip! Thanks. The uncertainty is also very frustrating.
Nothing at a comparable price, unfortunately. If this doesn't work out I'll have to cancel my trip.
I would not say a year is quick in the case of VCATNCAT/VCAT is usually pretty quick with arranging hearings. Might still get your trip!
And it's not like there isn't a heck of a trail to back up your emails etc by way of this thread...NCAT/VCAT is usually pretty quick with arranging hearings. Might still get your trip!
They have honestly left it rather late to cancel at this stage and still claim mistake.
Yikes! That’s insane!I would not say a year is quick in the case of VCAT

That meFrom a Facebook Group. It seems this is not the only Accor property to try a similar move on guests wanting to change a free cancellation pay at hotel booking to a pay in advance, non-refundable booking, otherwise they will cancel the booking. But by self report on FB, the member managed to get them to honour the original booking.
I hope you have the same outcome @Phoenix-1. It's making me nervous as I have a 2 week booking at an Accor property in Abu Dhabi over their F1 weekend in early December and don't want to have to deal with this too.

Go you!!!! I can’t believe the trolling you copped. That meAnd yes I wasn’t gonna take that nonsense!
Out of interest, what was the trolling? How would anyone not be in the OP’s court?Go you!!!! I can’t believe the trolling you copped.
Basically many posters said things along the lines of “why are you even complaining” “be glad they didn’t just cancel it” “what difference does it make if you pay now” and similar comments that missed the point of a fully flexible booking being changed after it was made to much less attractive conditions.Out of interest, what was the trolling? It's social media. The bar is in the dirt.Basically many posters said things along the lines of “why are you even complaining” “be glad they didn’t just cancel it” “what difference does it make if you pay now” and similar comments that missed the point of a fully flexible booking being changed after it was made to much less attractive conditions.
Some people on FB are pretty dumb.
