And the piece that has not yet been clarified in any of this, is how - if at all - will you be able to earn SC on award flight bookings once you no longer have PC/PC+? Anecdotally, we know there is meant to be a mechanism (e.g. likely certain credit cards), but this has still not been formally mentioned to my knowledge.

As long as you attain it by December 7th, yes, that's correct.

The FAQ notes:

"You are a Points Club or Points Club Plus member and your current Points Club Membership ends before 8 December 2026."

"If you retain Points Club before your current Membership Year ends and before the 8 December 2026 retirement date, your benefits will be honoured for the remainder of your current Membership Year and for your subsequent full Membership Year.

Based on the above, you should still have PC status in your next membership year.

I wonder if both the email and the FAQ is correct, and there is a scenario where as a current PC+ member, as long as you retain PC in your current year and before 8 Dec 2026, you are entitled to PC+ for your next membership year? The reason is that it is challenging to obtain the required 350,000 points in a shorter time frame up to 8 Dec 2026.

While this would be nice if Qantas were doing this, I don’t think it’s their intention to essentially give a lower 150k point threshold for both PC and PC Plus in the last few months if the year. As a current PC Plus member myself,I have already retained PC Plus until 30 September 2027, I would love for this more generous interpretation of the retain target to be the case. I think I can get 150k points between 1st October and 7th December this year, so can get PC until 30 September 2028, but wouldn’t be able to get 350k points to retain PC Plus.

Just to make it crystal clear using @LondonAussie's scenario (i.e. 1 September Member Year Anniversary) -:

If you attained/retained PC/PC+ in the previous member year...

• ...but have failed to retain it in the current member year, then it will only remain valid until 31 August 2026.

If you attained/retained PC/PC+ in the current member year...

• ....then it will remain valid until 31 August 2027.

If you attain/retain PC/PC+ in the new member year any time up to December 7th 2026 (inclusive)....

• ...then it will remain valid until 31 August 2028.

Note: I know this is the basic understanding of the majority here, but there will no doubt be some folks struggling to understand the implications and how to work out the validity periods.

I’m fairly sure that there is no soft landing for Points Club Plus (ie if you’re a current Points Club Plus member and don’t hit the 150k point threshold, you would only drop to Points Club, rather than drop down to nothing), but does anyone know for sure?

The bit about the credit card is interesting for me, but not in a good way. I have retired so getting approved for a new credit card is not likely. Hopefully it might be a rejig of the current Qantas Credit Card managed now by NAB, which already have. But if it's a totally new provider then that will most likely be a blocker.

Quite annoyingly due to the dates I'm going to retain just before the end of my current year, so I will only get it for 12 months and a few weeks instead of up to ~20 months if I was able to earn it early in the first few months of my new membership year.

I hope to be proved wrong but this is worded as if it’s just 1 card, in which case it’s likely to be the top tier card with an insane $1200 annual fee.

With current DSC promo, as PC/PC+, I book flights for Aug 2027 paying taxes with ABC credit card.
But come early/mid 2027 QF come out with taxes must be paid with XYZ credit card, should I expect SC/DSC's ......?

I suspect that's an aberration, but I guess time will tell.

Data point: I have a 1 October new member year. Have already retained PC+ in the current member year and the email advised 30 SEP 2027 (which is technically accurate).

I’m also starting my membership year on 1 Sep. Retained PC+ about 6 months in, and at nearly double that figure now, but never got an email confirming renewal, let alone to 2028. QF web and app both show Aug 2027 for PC+ status end. I’ll earn enough to retain PC in Sep/Oct, so will have that through Aug 2028 anyway, but not PC+. Will update if it shows member to Aug 2028 after Tuesday.

Yeah, we’ve been pondering if there’s going to be some requirement like that rather than just hold CC xyz. Not sure if the QF IT will cope!

Currently, it’s a simple logic that you earn SCs if eligible at the time of flying.

For us, we’ll be running to retain min PC by 07 Dec (we just started a new year 01 Aug). Will have 20k from flying by end of Sep, 20k from QBR (whenever needed) and a mix of CC, EDR, QF Hotels points. 2x QF Wine vouchers and 10% discount will come in handy! (PS, I bought plenty of QF Wine that was quite acceptable!).

Only thing in the WCMO category is the fairly arbitrary December date for the changes? We’ll probably just miss out on some triple point QF Hotel stays…. The activity date will be before 07 Dec but the points won’t land until after. So can’t rely on those…

The way it is now with QHotels is points earn is on date stayed, not date posted so I'd be cheesed off too.
The optimist in me would like to think that you would get your points.

Just listened to an ad on the radio for Trip A Deal. 20,000 points but you don't get your points until after travel, how would you be if you booked a trip on Wednesday for Christmas hoping that would tip into PC/PC+
Guess it's more wine for SYD!
