No More International Lounge Access on Jetstar Flights (except QF codeshare/JQ business max)

So if none of the Platinums here actually fly JQ, extrapolating then this seemingly won't have any impact on the First lounge.
I end up flying JQ internationally about the same as QF - I acknowledge I'm not the normal demographic to hold Platinum though. But very anecdotally, I really don't see too many JQ users in the F lounge - not really sure if this will clear the "rabble" out.

So for me, sure, this is annoying - F lounge before long haul JQ makes the experience a lot better. But oh well, if I save $xx_ by flying JQ, surely I can spend $xx on a nice meal at the airport, or a contract lounge etc.

So no Qantas flights to Bali from Perth, so we have no choice other than Jetstar, Virgin, Air Asia, etc. so why should Perth Platinum FF’s be penalised re lounge access, when no Qantas metal flies to Bali?
There is no F lounge in PER anyway so not losing that benefit.
If you want the same lounge access as before book on QF code.

Quite a few international destinations from airports other than PER that are only served by JQ. eg ICN.
I don’t think PER platinums are any more disadvantaged than any others.

I think it's interesting they have allowed P1 but not Platinum. Increasingly I am not finding much difference between Gold and Platinum and not really missing it as much as I thought I would when I dropped back to Gold.

Do P1s still get “anytime access” anyway?

Where are you based? Accessing dedicated Dom J lounges over QPs is still very well worthwhile (and obviously F lounges around the world).

The free and early access to Y+ has become a huge positive improvement.

I find the big upgrade is the F lounges. TBH the Dom J lounges are fairly dismal and incremental uplift from the QC is fairly negligible. I can’t imagine anyone strives for WP just to access the Dom J lounge

As others have mentioned by function of location that's already the case at SYD and MEL.
Still leaves a lot outside those two;
Perth, Darwin, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra, Adelaide, Hobart and Launceston all have QF/JQ both operating from the same terminal and a QF lounge.

Jetstar use T2 in Perth. Bit of a hike from the Qantas Club.

How does one actually book a QF codeshare on JQ now?

I’m sure I’ve seen them before but when I search multiple JQ routes on QANTAS.com, I see JQ codes (no QF codeshares)….🤷‍♂️

I can see them for Economy but I’m not familiar with how it works so not sure why I can’t see any Business on there. Those more qualified might know

Well, that’s weird. That was one route I looked at and it only showed JQ flight number….

J will only be in the B789 routes.

Also, I assume a “Business” CR doesn’t come with lounge access?

So we’re going to see a LOT more annoying JQ CR options popping up on searches soon. SYD-SIN showing J but clicking thru to see QF SYD-MEL and JQ MEL-SIN grinds my gears….

Plenty of routes don't actually have them. This change is telling people to go book something that in a lot of cases doesn't exist.
Hence my slightly sarcastic question!

Also, is it only “Business” Max Bundles that offer lounge access? So if it’s not a 789 route, no one’s going down that route either.

With the difference in price between a Business and Business Max fare you would be better off shelling out for a PP membership or just pay for lounge access

I was just pointing out that whY PAX can’t pay to get lounge access - AFAIK.

The Biz Max bundle is another thing that grinds my gears. It takes the fare to Fully Flex. There’s no in between option that just provided the ability to earn points + lounge…

Yeah, just seems a costly exercise
I had a look on the JQ website and in that photo I posted QF want $864 for the QF codeshare flight whereas with JQ direct on their site their most expensive Y fare is the Bangkok Max at $448.
So if you wanted QF lounge access you either have to stump up $1619 for Business Max or $864 for a Qf codeshare. That’s one mightily expensive lounge visit.!
