I'm keen to see if shadows are much of a thing in Y+ or if they'll prefer to sell the seat, and keep shadows for the rear cabin.

Now that we’re inside T-80 for the first flights on the 6th I had a quick look and for WP row 4 becomes selectable but at a charge as previously reported. Not sure if will become free at check-in but as a P1 though I’m hoping not . Finally if the front row is just for sale to WP/OWE $100 is pretty steep for a 4 hour flight given they already get access to other extra legroom for free.

This was the first thought I had when QF announced Y+. I usually stay away from rows 4-6 on golden triangle sectors, but reliably get them from row 7. I’ve booked into Y+ seats for a trip this week - we’ll see how I go…

I’ve paid $35 for 4A in a 737 and had a shadow that stuck. However sticky shadows are always rare birds, i’ve had others evaporate. In those cases I suspect 4B didn’t pay anything and just checked in late. Once the unpaid seats run out I doubt QF will start bumping people, especially with 1/3 of the seats being nominally paid.

Surprisingly maybe not? If you look at Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026 you can see whilst there's a pile of paid seats available, most aren't available for purchase by the Bronze customer. Of course it's possible that more seats will appear once the visible ones are purchased, but I'm not sure.

Had that happen a couple of times where I figured a parallel JQ flight got cancelled and 40 people filled up the flight

Same for me. Picked row 4 for free at check-in.

Tomorrow is still under the old seating rules.

I will be interested to see if it’s still free at check-in under the new rules. If it’s not that would be a big negative change for me as a tall traveller. I miss being able to pick row 4 for free from T-80.
