Potential Lion Air Sale?

I cant actually tell if there is a sale on or not, but I had been checking prices for a DPS-LOP return, short hop for the family in late April/Early May.

Prices for 2 x adults, 1 child and 1 infant dropped from circa $700-750 return, down to $320 return from when I last looked (same days and timings), snaffled them up at that price.

I know many here may not want to fly Lionair, but its safer than getting the boat between Bali and Lombok I think!

Side note, their checked luggage prices seem pretty steep, ~$44 (500k IDR) for a 20kg bag on the 30minute hop (so need to fork out that in each direction). At least you can add checked luggage up to 6 hours before the flight at the same prices as booking, so I didn't add anything when booking and will optimise for whatever luggage we actually end up with

Edit: their checked luggage prices are fixed per kg per route, so on this route it is 25k per kg, or ~$2.21/kg

It's one of those airlines you just fly when you can't avoid imo. And yes, preferable to those speed boats...

@tassie6 Is it a JT (Lion Air) code for the flights you’re looking at, or IW (Wings Air)? Usually it’s IW doing the 20 minute shuttles DPS-LOP and vv.
They have a fleet of ATR72s which they work pretty hard and when delayed it’s often hours rather than minutes.

Flights are generally $90 per person each way, so if you got three seats return for less than $550 you’ve done well. I don’t recall having to pay that much for baggage though? Is there something like 10-15KG included, or maybe the sale ticket is a no baggage fare?

Ah, I just looked up my emails for the booking to get to and from LOP and realised it was BDO-DPS-LOP and then separate booking LOP-CGK on the way out. Because the first flight was from BDO with Super Air Jet we had 20KG per person for both legs. The LOP-CGK leg was with Batik with luggage included.

See, now this is why Lion Air has the reputation it does! I pulled up their website and punched in dates you mentioned to see if there was anything about a sale fare. Hit search and I get this splash page:

BACK TO THE FUTURE 😆 with a special from 2016.
It just stayed stuck on that page. So I have no idea what the fare is.

There were always problems with IT from the Lion group. If booking anything with them I would use Traveloka or Tiket.

You’ll be fine! 🤔
Even in the dodgiest of aviation markets flying is still the safest method of travel. I’ve flown IW five times and JT three times (and IU about ten times) and never crashed even once… 😁
