The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Yes.. I have used this to maintain status with both QFF and VA during double status promos ,,
Another good one is the NZ via SYD in Business when there is a sale $1500 return for the same SC as the MEL-BNE-CNS .. Did these 2 trips 8 x to get my QF Plat One $12000 all up including accomodation..🙃
There are flights Mel to Auckland via Brisbane for $2100 = 145SC each way which would be 580SC during a DSC promo. If those same flights were sub $1800 return with DSC, I'd be game.

Good stuff!

Why when I have in the past few minutes did a check on a QF biz fare between Auckland and Apia and back it has under status credits earned a X beside the detail? I'm sure that cannot be correct for a business class "sale" price can it?Screenshot_20251223-124555.Qantas.png

The calculator won't have the AKL-APW route loaded yet.

The route is 1792mi so should earn 80 SC in discount business (I), 85 SC in business (D) and 95 SC in flex business (C, J)

Don't hold your breath waiting for it to appear when booking. The QF codeshare flight on FJ between Canberra and Nadi still says 0 points 0 s/cs. A year or two since the service started.

I've done a little more digging into the Mel to Auk return flight options via Brisbane.

Option 1 is Mel > Bri > Auk then Auk > Bri > Mel the following day for $2,104 = 580SCs during a DSC promo, which is $3.62 per SC. If a hotel stay was required that would push the $ per SC closer to $4.

Option 2 is Mel > Auk then same day back Auk > Bri > Mel for $1,841 earning 450SCs during a DSC promo, which is $4.09 per SC.

Two runs of option 1 would be enough to get someone close to Platinum status starting from 0 SCs and four runs of option 1 to get someone to Platinum 1 if starting from having retained Platinum (1200 SCs), which is the position I find myself in.

Please correct me if my $ per SC calculations are incorrect. It's the first time I've looked into a status run in combination with DSCs.

Speaking from experience of multiple OOL>MEL>AKL return trips, a hotel stay in AKL isn't strictly required, but it certainly makes for a more comfortable status run. And in terms of the relative $/SC value proposition, combining AKL with MEL + BNE/OOL is certainly right up there.
