@dajop 's favourite flight that over the years has a dismal record of cancellations, JQ8, the Monday 15 December 2025 2100 hours SIN-MEL took off at 0105 on Tuesday 16. MEL arrival should be about 1100 hours, 215 minutes late. VH-VKG is the B788.
Good luck!Could be worse - I’m on JQ7 tomorrow connecting to a 6E flight departing 105 minutes later!
I’ve already got my speech to JQ’s ground handlers prepared for my arrival.

Thanks for the informative post. Wonder if it’s VH-VKA, which has been on the ground in MEL since Sunday morning. Time will tell!At this stage, the MEL airport site claims you're departing from gate 20 tomorrow (in T2). However there's no JQi arrival I can see using that gate, only a VN flight earlier, so unclear which aircraft is likely to form your flight.

Flight Aware has the flight going to DRW and it appears on the Darwin Airport flight status page. The Wednesday 17 December JQ7 has A321 VH-OFU with this 1310 hours scheduled flight taking off at 1419 hours. after pushing back at 1404. Thank you @Harrison_133 for the update re a (fuel) stop in DRW but thus far, FR24 (which claims SIN gate or equivalent arrival at 1804 hours) and JQ's 'flight status' on the latter's website (which claims a landing time of 1659 - not 1759 - in SIN) do not reflect this.
I don't share @dajop enthusiasm for same-day (especially an hour 45 minutes) connections between different airlines: post-Covid, there's so much unpredictable late running that a much greater buffer is perhaps wiser). But up to the individual.
Yeah bad luck indeed! Lesson learned for next time. Due in at SIN just after 2100 so will be a hair over 120 mins late.Quite the opposite, I did mention a MCT of 60 hrs! In fact I am travelling on JQ7 on a Sunday with the hope of making "connection" to a separate ticket at Tuesday morning @ 9am . No way would I risk this "connection" from the Monday flight, 15 hrs is simply not long enough for separate tickets coming from JQ7, even 39 hrs is probably pushing my luck! Luckily, I don't have to worry about finding or paying for accommodation at either end of the journey, so it's more a case of Que Sera Sera.
But in relation to @TomJones it was more the comment about speech for the ground handlers .... with JQ7 it's either you'll make it or completely miss it. It seems to run either really late or within 30-40 mins of schedule, although there have been a 70-80 min delays recently, they'd also be a complete miss for a 105 minute connection with T4->T2 transfer in the middle .
