Higher status credit earn on “VA holidays” than book else where for Choice and Business fares. Looks like old SC method instead of new dynamic per $ calc.

Well, I for one won't be bothering with it. VA have made me see sense and shown me that there is now little point in spending money with them to earn status. It was fun while it lasted, but now it's gone.

As a UA Plat (for life), I'll just use my MP status for lounge entry and priority boarding (and whatever else this relationship confers). I can live without free seating in rows 3/4.

Others may look at it differently.

Ditto. And clearly 1000s of others think the same moving forward.

Threads such as this will likely see them tweak the earning rate, sadly.

UNLESS the Penny has finally dropped in there, that messing with what was working was most unwise, given the widespread member blowback from the ham-fisted decimation of Velocity this year.

Time will tell. When the top Elite ranks are half what they were last year, the penny WILL drop that is for sure. So will their profits I suspect. :D

I look at the same, but for different reasons. I don't think there is ever a reason to earn status (only). Spend where you need/want and the status will fall where it will.

Our serial, emboldened grizzler may not see it that way.

Good find... but how can one tell if this trick is still working?
Is there a nifty calculator somewhere that might be able to help calculate the old vs the new system?
And so, you may earn more SC, but you'll earn significantly less points... I'm guessing it's not possible to just book the flights this way, and to book the accommodation. another way (like direct AMEX purchase through the portal or something)?

If it's advertised on their website it's working at time of booking.
They will shift to new dynamic per $ amounts eventually so it's limited loophole.

On Virgin Holidays, it doesn't explicitly say how many SC you are earning. It's rather unclear actually. So it's hard to tell if it is working. Thus me asking.
