Hello,

Just wanted to ask if anyone has done this status run recently from Australia to NZ and returning a few hours later on a flight back to Aus.

I am reading conflicting reports on the inet stating that you have to enter and clear immigration upon arrival. I was hoping to somehow not go through this but head to transit area and then lounge before getting on a flight back.

Would be keen to hear about any recent experience with this.

Thank you.

It might depend on the times of your arrival and departure. When I arrived in AKL late one night, transit was closed so I had to clear immigration, go landside and wait a few hours before going airside for my flight back in the morning. @DejaBrew did a bunch of runs there not long ago and might be able to comment.

I really wish for a first hand report/ experience. But thank you so far for the replies
Transit area is definitely there and as long as you have an onward boarding pass (and assuming you’re hand luggage only), there’s no reason you wouldn’t be able to transit and avoid immigration, especially given your arrival/departure times.
