Fake QP complimentary invitations appearing on eBay

I did find one UK based article that goes into the Qantas angle a little:

Fake golf club scam 'cost eBay customers millions' - Times Online
Roy and Kay Cottee deny one charge of conspiracy to defraud and one of conspiracy to sell or distribute goods bearing signs likely to be mistaken for registered trademarks, namely Qantas Cards. About 2,000 counterfeit Business Class Lounge invitation cards were seized from one property.

2000!

Loved the description, it just kept getting wilder and wilder!

I also reported it to ebay (not that I expect them to do anything about it) as fraudulent. They provide you with around 100 characters to report a description of it. Hardly useful.

eBay are hopeless though:)

eBay are pretty good at clamping down on auctions with worthless good or fake items. Normally they'll be removed within 12-24hrs of posting, and the fake QP comp cards are generally easy to spot.

Someone actually bought the worthless envelope for $99, and left the following feedback: "Terrific, very happy, many thanks, recommended Ebayer"

As I commented in another thread, ebay is full of idiots - both buying and selling.

 There is NO way I would buy Qantas passes from a seller with 2 feedback

Yeah and what is the bet that the purchaser is a stooge used to bump up the sellers ratings?

Aaahh...good ol' shilling business.

Reminds me of that iPhone app that blatantly said "This app does nothing. If you buy it, all you get is a way to show off that you have enough money to buy this app." It cost $1,000. Some people actually bought it! Of course, as idiotic as they are, they complained.

Could well be, but you never do know. Seller has sold two of those packages, netting $99 each time. A quick way to earn a buck!

No jokes. Shilling isn't for free - eBay charges a commission on every sale.

Some people get 50% of that back ... I certainly get 50% of the commission anytime I buy something through Ebay (the joys of online cashback sites!).

So shilling can be fairly cheap.

By that rate I have over a thousand dollars worth sitting my drawer

Did the "old" passes actually sell?

Perhaps I should list my current passes on eBay....

Did the "old" passes actually sell?

From what I can see, the seller actually sold two sets of 2xQP Guest passes at $99 per sale. - Ie, roughly $190 profit.

As a laugh, a (well perhaps) genuine QP pass sold for about $25 recently, and a two pack of passes sold for about $100.

It does amaze me what they are worth - although I still think of the tool who resold a pass I gifted to them for profit on Ebay, One day I'll actually post the screenshot of the auction so that everyone knows who it was - but as they don't seem to post here frequently these days, I will resist that for a while.

Well sell them to someone who has a lot less morals than yourself, and let them do the dirty work with conning people...

I think I have multiple books of those passes as well in storage, so perhaps I am sitting on a fortune?:rolleyes:

Its a shame that there are these fakes showing up, im sure there are some people who take their once-in-a-lifetime trip who will be mighty dissapointed with their new purchase. Heck, i even considered seeing what turned up on ebay because im not SG yet and i'm off on my honeymoon in 4 hours haha
