QF Platinum Recognition on flights

QR are unbelievably consistent…

I would tend to agree, although…

In my case, when I was QR plat what I consistently remember was zero special anything on any QR flight (in J). Then on my very first flight after dropping to QR gold (still in J), sure enough a personal welcome!

Recently flew MEL-NRT and HND-SYD and they were my first international flights with QF in J I can recall that I wasn't welcomed back at my seat. It was only noteworthy to me as my experience up to that point was I have always received at-seat greetings on QF J consistently.

As a lowly WP on 6 CX flights this year (mix of J and Y+), was always greeted and thanked by purser and crew working the section and meal order taken early; I think CX also places bottles of water in Y+ and Y to mark pax with status. On 6 flights with MH was always greeted and thanked and half the time meal orders taken early.

On the Finnair QF flights SYD to BKK in Y with BKK based crew, outbound was greeted by every crew in the seciton lol, meal choices early and periodic checks to see if I wanted anyhing and they always addressed me by name; nothing on the return leg. On QF metal flights (intl and dom) 90% of the time there would be greetings etc.

SQ is pretty impressive, (as a lowly PPS) in J there was always a greeting/thank you by the purser and crew, and half the time the crew knew my name when I walked to my seat cause they memorised the pax names with status in their section. Solitaire (P1 equivalent) pax would get champers or wine from F. In Y more often than not the crew would also greet and memorise the names.

It *used* to be that your bottle of water indicated your status! ‘Regular’ water for golds/sapphire, and Evian for diamonds/emeralds. Not sure if that’s still the case?

I recall pre-Covid on QF domestic Y as a WP that when they did the food delivery they would address me by name. That's long gone.

I agree the whole look at the iPad and run through a scripted spiel is so pointless and cringe worthy. It's an unpleasant experience for both parties.

Something useful would be to take note of preferences. Eg, would you like your usual pre-dinner drink Mr Daver6 or something different today. Or just learn habits and apply them.
