Sometimes it's you yourself blocking up the cheap fare bucket. I had a few experiences where the payment failed and it took about 4 hours for the seats to become available at the same price as before. Or it could even be repeating the search in another browser / window before the previous pending booking has timed out.

This is also a method to force a higher fare bucket if you need it for higher points earning etc.
This happened to me. If you take a booking as far as the "pay" page and cancle, your fare is locked and won't be released for several hours.

Not me, travelling with my mum at the moment.

Thought to bring along her favourite instant coffee, hard to find sometimes. In checked baggage... yep opened somehow.

No spare clothing in hand luggage
Sometning like that happened to me except it was a 500 ml can of beer!. The clothes washed well.

And we place our bottle/s in middle of suitcase, well padded by our clothes in cubes @kevrosmith
Frequently "need" to bring several bottles from syd to bne. Bottle= about 1.5kg so carry-on.
When you buy single bottles delivered they are often very well packaged, so I keep an reuse that packaging.
Just adding... would similarly attempting to transport Champagne/sparkling end up a travel mistake?

These have done the job for me, over several years of taking 4-6 bottles of wine to the UK for work meetings, and then getting whiskey or gin from Sainsbury to bring home

Can confirm that champagne/sparking is a BAD idea!

I took a bottle to India, it survived the flights undamaged and sat quietly in the hotel room fridge for three days before we decided to open it.

Hadn’t even unscrewed the cage fully when the top flew off, hit the ceiling, and 1/2 of the contents was lost to spray.

I thought perhaps a few days would have settled it down… but obviously not 🤣🤣

There's always the leaking shampoo bottle, but hopefully in the toilet bag so it is the only thing affected.

... and I have 1 of these sitting in my cupboard here, whenever I used to do click and collect orders from Harvey Nics the bottles would come wrapped in them. So, that is 1 bottle of sloe gin for someone nice and protected to take back to Aus ......
