2025 F1 Thread

There were a few wrecks driving around which should have been black flagged.

Didnt see the kangaroo on the TV on race day, but seen it on internet since.
Thats why KAYO is hopeless at the track its 1 min later than live. Probably less of an issue at Bathurst due to long lap but a PITA at shorter tracks.

Think Lowndsey killed one a few years back on live tv and everyone got upset and protested. I was there one time and saw one get whacked and it was not on TV either. There is a lot of fences there, but they always find a way through.

There have been safety cars for echidnas and goannas in the past. F1 drivers have hit or nearly hit rabbits, deers and water dragons.
Yes, Lewis Hamilton's Groundhog Day at the Canadian Grand Prix this year

Only coz Skippy survived...thats what I was saying...it gets bleeped to prevent snowflakes being upset,
They do seem a bit more relaxed about the swearing than F1 but.
Or Chaz's little drink after retiring....
Oscar should do that next time McLaren order him to stop and let NOR win.

Interesting to just watch the press conferences in Austin.
McLaren, in their retrospective wisdom, have pinned the Lap 1 Singapore contact on Lando and deemed it unacceptable, and Lando has now taken responsibility - in contrast to his post-race bluster about going for gaps.
He also said there will be "repercussions" for him due to the contact.
Neither he nor Oscar would elaborate on the repercussions, sending Kravitz, Chandhok and Croft into apopleptic rage at not being told exactly what the repercussions would be.
An interesting weekend unfolding

I was just reading an article about that press conference, and Verstappen's observations too. I must admit I don't like this level-headiness and focus from Oscar, I want a few more theatrics :) It's going to be a good race I think.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who is 63 points behind Piastri in the championship but has won two of the past three races and finished second in the other, was asked in a news conference on Thursday in Austin whether he believed McLaren were favouring Norris.

He replied: "Absolutely."

He laughed, and then said: "Yep."

Leaving the news conference, he said off-microphone: "Well, there's a headline."

Ah Max seems like hes having a good ol time with the papaya rules.

Classic Papaya Rules there. Let him say yes, my bad, when it's too late to do anything about it. Idiots.

Did you hear - The "incident" was Lando's fault now and there will be repercussions...later...maybe...we cant say for sure.

If I had a dollar for each time they said that!!!

Wont be staying up for the live race tonight...watch it tomorrow.

In other news there are a few less seagulls at Phillip Island today after the bikes....

VER just keeps climbing the standings.

After PIA and NOR coming together PIA is certainly off the pace in qualifying. Hopefully the front runners replay the sprint start. ;)
Its interesting to read the comments right now about what fans think of the T1. Some think NOR sent it a bit and forced PIA, others think PIA should've known he couldn't cut back in that way.

Personally i think its just a mix of unfortunate circumstances and more of a racing incident. Poor HUL and ALO though. Both had amazing sprint qualifying.

Also RUS nearly sending it straight into VER like STR did to OCO.

I think NOR was way too aggressive in the defence for Lap 1. PIAs only choice was to attempt the cutback, otherwise he was probably off track, totally compromised and dropping a few places.

Very different to Singapore where PIA left plenty of room on the inside only for NOR to aggressively send it the following corner.

Maybe this is the gloves off scenario now. Perhaps pre Singapore PIA would've just gone wide.
