Qantas 787-9 flying PER-LAX non-stop

Wonder what they think of the difference between aircraft given an A380 took them to Perth.

Either give you a good choice of connections, as does flying via the east coast, though as you say 6am customs and the inter terminal bus is brutal after 14-16 hours in Y

In any case Qantas would certainly have the numbers on thru traffic and be able to estimate how much it could return. I reckon they have a pretty captive audience of roo-aligned west Aussies going via Syd, Mel and Bne, and there might not be too much more to gain through a direct. Not sure there's substantial VFR to keep it afloat outside of holiday seasons, like per/LHR has.
I arrived in LAX ex SYD on UA two
Weeks ago. Flight arrived at TBIT at 05.50 ,Plane doors opened at 6.00 exactly and I was at inter terminal bus stop at 6.18. And at Terminal 7 by 6.30 for connecting flight.
I was i Y and have an Australian passport, but only hand luggage.
On return to Sydney it took over 1.5 hours to get from plane to seat in Uber..

Welcome to AFF!

In the dark days after Covid re-opening, MEL International was a reliable 60 minute wait at baggage carousel... but much much better recently - I did not expect such, err, stuff at SYD, I thought it was just because MEL is a back water. Are you saying on return to SYD you only had carry on? OMG

I wonder if WWE has enough influence in the USA/LAX to have inbound immigration processing available at 4:15am at LAX? or have they somehow managed to arrange for special consideration due to all passengers being US citizens and/or pre-clearence for the passengers when departing Perth (unlikely)?
What about Customs? Their bags would surely need to be fine-tooth-combed
