Online or email contact for Qantas

I’m currently overseas for another couple of weeks and need to contact Qantas about a flight change they made.

I had a MNL - SYD flight via BNE end March. They cancelled the MNL - SYD flight and initially replaced it with MNL - SYD (leaving 8pm night rather than early morning) so no problem there but weirdly then SYD - BNE so I could catch my original BNE to SYD late afternoon flight.

They then replaced (2 hours later) with an 8 pm MNL - SYD flight but the original BNE to SYD flight, entailing an 8 hour layover.

In trying to change it shows the direct MNL to SYD flight as available but when I try to effect the change I get a system error 4000-0.

As calling is not currently an option is there any way to contact online or via email? Given the dates woul be happy to defer until return but have now received 2 emails telling me I have to accept or change!

Try FB Messenger.

Go to www.facebook.com/Qantas/ and click on the Message button. Be prepared for a lengthy wait for a response but you will get a response

Thanks, when I went onto messenger I realised I had used this option a few years ago, hence why I thought there was such an option. Will see how fast they are, fortunately in no real hurry!

I’m in Bangladesh! Yeah I probably could have found a way to call but not easy or cheap and who wants to spend that time on hold when you can do via chat!

Maybe not QF yet(?) but useful to check if companies / hotels etc are on WhatsApp. Easy to message but you can also call for free from OS using wifi.

Still, handy to know that messenger worked!

Bring back Skype.

Depending on your phone provider, if you have WiFi calling enabled you can call back to Australia for free. This works for me on Telstra.

I have a permanent US eSIM with T-Mobile and if I need to call the states I can do it through that with wifi calling.

Wifi calling is still only Telstra AFAIK (and some of their MVMOs).

Some options here. I just went with amaysim roaming calls/txt. Cheap and easy.

So what are peeps doing these days for cheap calls/text back to Oz, or local/international calls/text while you’re travelling OS?

Background. Since 2019 I’ve had the Optus $50 plan that included roaming data, unlimited calls & text when OS (to/from select countries) and calls/text from Oz to OS (35 countries). Alas, that plan has been phased out and apart from calls/text from Oz to OS - moving forward any calls/text (and data) are an additional fee for service (see #1 below). My current intention is to use the eSIM in my phone for roaming data and the Optus SIM will roam and receive txts...

Outsourcing.... arguably, that would have to be worse than getting the Manila call centre (unless you wanted Salesforce credentials over the phone).

I’ve never had any issues with the email team. There are some excellent agents at the offshore service centre and I can confirm I have had some vapid individuals from the Hobart contact centre who are either well past their expiry date or new and will actively get customers off the phone asap without effectively resolving query and were an utter embarrassment in comparison to some of the familiar and highly experienced mindpearl agents.

For what it’s worth, it’s the same team that deals with agency connect matters. Of course you’re welcome to use social media as well but it would be remiss of me not to provide this option when the OP merely wanted contact details. I trust they can use their natural instructs on what’s best for them.
