I didn't realise they did an Alicante, I will have to try it. Chambers in Rutherglen used to make a straight Alicante some years ago, but now blend it.

Nobody in Australia has produced Alicante longer than Rockford.

That's interesting to know. I must admit not being from SA not knowing a lot about Rockford's. I had the Alicante at Chambers about 1992, as they had a lot of older varieties not seen around the place as straight varietals - Cinsault, Gouais, Alicante

Their Cellar Door is worth a visit for their local reds. I see they’re doing a lot of Adelaide Hills whites now. Must go back there next time.

Couple of older bottles. The 2002 Wendouree Cab Malbec still has a lot going for it with tannin for days but oxidation is showing with more prune than fresh fruit. The 2002 Loosen Wehelener Sonnenuhr Spätlese is towards end of life but offering toffee praline over the top of pineapple caramel and lemon curd cruffin.

Quite probable. Based on notes from others, I suspect the Wendouree is cooked. The Loosen more likely just over the hill. Can’t guarantee provenance on either bottle but always fun to give some older bottles a go.
