The view or two from my "office"

What's the story with the priv. train?

The company I am travelling with has put this tour together. We travel by train through Hungary,, Romania (including Transylvania) and Bulgaria before ending the trip in Istanbul for a few days. Lunch, and sometimes dinner, is eaten on the train while enjoying gorgeous views of the countryside. And sip champagne! Passengers stay in excellent hotels along the way and undertake excursions. Train crew use the sleeper car on the train.

Sounds superb. Enjoy

Vistula River Warsaw. You can see sandbanks in the middle of the river. The river is at record low levels. All ferries etc cancelled.

FA Chris looking after the J cabin and doing a great job engaging pax in small chat whilst doling out the PDB. Had a good chat re: status runs, the DSC promo backflip, and the Loyalty Thank You gift that doesn’t count towards LT status.

And next to it the Royal Liver building.

Are there a pair of Royal Kidney Buildings nearby as well?

Thursday afternoon's office was a three vineyard tour of the Niagara on the Lakes wine region. The region produces cool climate wines (akin to the Canberra region) that includes ice wine which we purchased a couple of bottles of to take home. We're working our way through to the rest 🙂

Inniskillan was the first stop when a storm rolled in. From cloudy memory this was the first vineyard to produce ice wine in Canada though it originated in Germany. Thankfully we were in a van unlike the other group who were on e-bilkes.

Next stop was 'Between the Lines' vineyard was originally established by German immigrants and is now run by two brothers. While it does ice wine it produces some great reds including Cabernet Franc.

Sorry, wine barrel pic only, too busy tasting.

Last stop, Palatine Hills. This vineyard is on a site that was once a battlefield and field hospital during the 1812 war between what is now the US and the British aka Canada. They have a working 1972 Honda CB350, though the front tyre could do with some air on display which was the year the vineyard was established.
