QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Sep 1 NRT > BNE I7 > U2 denied multiple times over the last 3 weeks.

I know the current load is 16 empty J, 2 upgrade request (ourselves). Silly droid just gimme my almost guaranteed J seats and let me get my higher SC.

Also denied:

Aug 26 MEL - NRT I5 > U1.
Still no dice on NRT - BNE. Now I9 and status still remaining the same. Maybe its because its "September".

I’m about to hit Platinum for the first time and curious to know about people’s experiences with getting seats released during DSC?

Like any other release except generally speaking the call centre is busier during DSC

Trying to get seat released SYD-CDG in July 2026.

I assumed they tell you the outcome on the phone but I was told to wait 48 hrs to receive an email and callback. Is this normal procedure ?

My recent experience is they tell you instantly, yes or no. I understand in the past it used to be different and you had to call up.

Today I called up with two flights on two different dates, there was good news (one date could be released for both flights) and bad news (the other date was not released).

Maybe your delay was due to a crazy last minute DSC rush?!

This week I've had released:
x1 SYD to DFW in June 2026
x3 SYD to LAX in July 2026
x3 MEL to LAX in July 2026 (not taken)

A few weeks ago I've had released:
x2 LAX to BNE in July 2026

All due to luck of the algorithm.

I never had this happened since I only had a yes or no over the phone so it seems odd to me.

They created a booking with a bunch of requests for different days:
27, 28, 29, 31 of July: SYD-CDG
18, 20: CDG-SYD

Do any say “Confirmed” or all “On request”?

Confirmed means you got it.

I tried for two different trips today - DPO-MEL-DPO in December approved, DPO-MEL-SYD and return doing the will let you know in 48 hours thing.

FWIW, As a P I tried for 1 x J SYD-CDG on multiple dates/months a little while back, and was approved only for the "quiet" months (i.e. Feb/Mch.) I gained the impression from the HBA agent that I'd be extremely lucky to get anything for April through summer approved.

I also put in a request for 2xU for SIN>BNE in June (both flights I7) and have been told to wait 48hrs.
App still says requested after today so not looking likely based in previous experience.

I've made a request before and the droid didn't give a response within 2 min so was told to wait, but that appeared as confirmed within 15 min
