From the viewing platform. Not to be unkind but Warsaw is not the most exciting city I have seen from above. But that happens when most of your city has been levelled in WW2.

There is the old town rebuilt after the war and monument to Chopin.

We saw the Chopin Monument yesterday after walking around a lot of Lazienki Park. And we intend to be be back there on Sunday for the free concert.
After we went up 'Stalin's Wedding Cake' we then spent a few hours wandering around the old town area.

My comment is about the fact that there are no grand sweeping boulevards etc to be seen from that building. I am comparing the view to places like Barcelona, Paris and Madrid. All of which had the good fortune not to have been deliberately and maliciously destroyed in WW2. Something, as I pointed out, Warsaw suffered.

Backing up a little the mid morning office on QR831 an A 380. Not so wonderful seat but not bad.

About last night's mobile office, QF163...



Yes this was 5D when group 1 boarded. The seat cushion is jammed above the D/E armrest. The CSM advised an engineer was to return.
Don't mind me, I was in 5F with an E shadow - later in the boarding process the poor passenger who had selected that seat was mighty confused!
The CSM advised them that an engineer was on the way, then upon seeing how late in the boarding process we were, had resolved if it wasn't fixed by last boarding, then she would check with the captain and we'd likely have it fixed in Wellington.
A (functional) 8D was available, so the passenger was moved there, and a couple of minutes later the seat cushion was replaced.
We still managed to push back 2 minutes early, and thanks to a generous tailwind arrived 40 minutes early!

We did Niagara Falls on Wednesday and strip away the kitsch, the Falls was well worth the visit. We did a guided tour that took us behind the falls, a boat ride to the bottom of the falls etc. We're not fans of guided tours but this was well worth it. The guide was engaging, fast tracked through the lines etc.

we got soaked. Brilliant!

Horseshoe Falls is approx 180 ft (55 Mtrs) high. The spray goes past the drop height and then much further into the air. The volume of water going over is 169,000 cubic metres per second. It's a sight to see.

Were you aware that actually up to 75% of the water upstream is diverted to make electricity so what you see today is only a shell of what it was like prior to the 1950's

From QF71 office on a beautiful, sunny afternoon. That’s the west coast and Indian Ocean. We don’t bother with names like “90 mile beach” because it just keeps going! Singapore in 5 hours.

Arden Station, one of the new underground stations due to open later this year in Melbourne. There was an open day and I got a ticket to attend through the Big Build Web sites. Am looking forward to travelling on it when the trains start going through it.

Yep. The guide said a control dam was built in the 50's to control the flow of water to the power stations. It opens early in the morning to let water flow over the falls and closed at night to redirect the flows to the power stations.
