New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

I would not be surprised if QF lowered the threshold to get LTP but introduced a requirement that most/all SC be on QF to count towards it.

I would be surprised.

Doesn't really make sense anyway, they're effectively targeting P1s to get LTP - almost impossible to get it as WP. So if you're trying to entice WP to go for LTP - the first step is to go for P1, which already has the 75% QF marketed requirement.

Given how little LTP members are already out there (100+ in 2019, if I recall correctly), I’m not sure lowering the threshold would help. On a standard status run, you’d need to maintain P1 (3600 SC) for 21 consecutive years to achieve it, which means most people would be at 40-50 or near retirement age by then. That’s also assuming you never shifted your loyalty from Qantas to another airline over that entire period.
Good point. I wasn't going to raise this but I am in that position or even worse off, so my enjoyment of LTP would be severely limited.

Of note their March T&C that were published for sometime didn’t have lifetime SC exclusion.

I’m tempted to book and lodge complaint if DSC don’t show for lifetime.
neither the loyalty bonus offer today or the DSC offer contribute to LT status, this was always the case so if you have already achieved/retained your status for the year they are worthless

I can’t see it happening. They do have an issue that most LTG are probably going to book other airlines as LTP is really only achievable to regular P1 flyers.

I’m still miffed the gift SCs dont count to lifetime status. Really useless to a lot of loyal customers. I’m looking at earning ~800 SCs this membership year…. The extra 80 basically just go into my account and then disappear next year. I’m not feeling like it’s a reward or thank you of any kind.

I agree with the vast majority on here: DSCs not counting towards LT status makes this promotion almost useless for me.

I did want to check one thing: if I book J flights now but change the dates after the promotion ends, do I still receive the DSCs/double points? I'll have to cop any change fees.
My understanding is that if the booking code (PNR) doesn't change, you should still receive them; correct?

I think a lot of us feel that way. But then there are others looking to keep or achieve their status in their year and are still a way off. These SCs would be very welcome. Mrs B is very happy with her gift as it puts her into the next category.

Seems like I’m one of the few who will be benefiting from this - needed 71SC to retain SG with no travel booked between now and my Jan renewal, so I’m pretty happy.

Understand the frustration of others though.

Now to see if I can find a decent run to earn WP without breaking the bank… (don’t like my chances)

That’s not true.
This is the first time ever that DSC have not counted towards lifetime status.

Good on you, mate. Honestly, these rewards seem aimed at folks below WP status or chasing it, which is probably most of Qantas’ customer base anyway. Looks like they’re targeting the masses, and you can bet some actuary ran the numbers assuming exactly that.

A very warm welcome aboard AFF @seanr75 :)

Beg to differ re: DSC.

Edit: As have others, I see.

Everything prior to this except SC rollovers counted to lifetime total.
There is one exception to this - the 20% bonus SCs earned from the Qantas Premier Titanium CC have never counted to the lifetime tally. Other than rollover SC's, they're the only category of SC's that I know of that have been treated as not worthy until now.

Grateful for clarification / confirmation. .Eligibility is said to be on Qantas marketed and operated flights.

If I book return flights in/out Europe through/marketed Qantas but on the flights operated by Emirates (so 4-digit flight numbers beginning QF) — this booking would not qualify for this offer? Either for double points or double SC?

Yes, you are correct. As the flight is not operated by Qantas it is not eligible for the double points/status credits.

Welcome to AFF!

Long time lurker, first time poster - welcome! 😊

Lol, you are right, though I prefer to refer to myself as a long-time reader.

Since retiring I’ve been taking one, sometimes two overseas trips a year. Flying directly to a European city with Emirates (via Dubai) is far easier than flying Qantas via London. And cheaper.

I’m LTG and have qualified P1 for several years. End October I will drop back to Gold as I chose to book directly with Emirates for my European holiday this year — cheaper and the chauffeur car service is a very attractive incentive (particularly at the arrival and departure cities in Europe).

I got mildly excited when I got the Qantas email as I am about to book next year’s European holiday. But now I realise Emirates flights won’t get me the double offer, I will return to booking directly with Emirates.

As others have said elsewhere, LTG is a ‘sweet spot’. Platinum adds a bit but not much of real value.

Still no email in my inbox from QF, so if it wasn't for AFF, I'd be none the wiser about this DSC offer and the other assorted bonuses.

I'm also in the "yeahnah, pass" camp on this DSC round, based on the lifetime exclusion. I've easily requalified for SG this membership year but too far away to bother chasing WP by booking a frivolous status run.
