Singapore F redemption downgraded!

I find the chat people helpful, but yes ask for back office to open up saver space seems required
This seems very optimistic and hopeful. What would be the wording that you say to the customer service for this? Would you need an e-mail? When you say chat people you mean online chat, not over the phone?

call the call centre, ask them to pull up your booking, get them to note the downgrade, ask for options.

If they come back with ‘no availability’ (etc etc), ask them to please send a message to the back office to request saver inventory for F class to be opened up on SQxx_ due to schedule change and involuntary downgrade.

Make sure they note it’s an involuntary downgrade.

UPDATE Tuesday night, 26 August

Just called using the Singapore number, and spoke to an English-speaking agent.
They allowed, and effected the change to the evening flight SQ227 without any resistance.
OK, it's an overnight flight and I'll only get one meal, but I'll get to stay all day at the TPR or go into town for a while if I choose.
Thank you for all your advice - perseverance pays off!
Of course, given the latest changes to the Krisflyer program, I don't envisage doing another Krisflyer premium redemption ever again. To quote yours truly, it was nice while it lasted.

Yes, good result. you can of course have two meal services… the exact wording from the menu is:

For a longer stretch of undisturbed rest, we are pleased to offer you meal service options specially timed to suit your preferences. Whether you would like your meal to be served soon after take-off, or two hours before arrival or both, simply inform our crew and leave the rest to our care.

So you can have caviar and a light course on departure, and eggs for breakfast etc fro breakfast!

But if you have dinner at TPR would you be bothered to have 2 meals for short overnight flight? I would prefer to have more time for sleeping!

I have heard of many stories of guests only being given food once despite the wording saying "or both". And I won't be having eggs for breakfast but rather a "dinner" option from book the cook. I'll have tea at TPR and then just sleep until breakfast time.

Yes, I wouldn't get held up on the fine print for the flight. I'd take advantage in TPR 👍

Agree. But for some folk the perceived drop in service - one meal instead of two - is an issue. I guess in some cases too, there are pax on short transfers of 60 mins that won’t have time to eat in TPR.

I like to have something to eat before bed so have a quick meal on departure, and then some fruit, croissant and a couple of coffees (served at the same time!) around 30 mins before arrival.
