KrisFlyer devaluation beginning Nov 1st 2025

Just received am email from SQ confirming all, this as well as:

EARN STATUS CREDITS BEYOND THE SKIES

Currently, KrisFlyer members can only earn Elite miles from flights on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, Star Alliance and selected partner airlines.

From 1 September 2025 0000hrs (GMT+8), your everyday spend with the Singapore Airlines Group non-flight entities will count towards your KrisFlyer Elite tier status upgrade or status renewal.

As a KrisFlyer member, you will earn 1 Elite mile for every SGD1 spent when you shop and dine with Kris+ in Singapore and Australia1 (in Melbourne and Sydney), when you make purchases through KrisShop or book travel experiences with Pelago.

The table below outlines the maximum Elite miles that will count towards your KrisFlyer Elite tier membership upgrade/renewal in a membership year2. This will offer some flexibility for members who are close to fulfilling their Elite tier qualification/renewal requirements, and who will soon have the option to spend with the SIA Group non-flight entities to track towards the membership upgrade/renewal requirements.

1 Members will earn 1 Elite mile for every AUD1 spent on Kris+ in Australia (Melbourne & Sydney)
2 Within 12 consecutive months when tracking towards upgrade to KrisFlyer Elite tier membership.

Can't seem to copy the table, basically 5,000 will count towards attaining / retaining Silver, and 10,000 towards attaining / retaining Gold

Edit, quote:
Singapore Airlines will also be introducing a new type of dynamically-priced award called Access, which will offer additional seats on top of existing Saver and Advantage inventory for a higher price.

Crucially, Singapore Airlines claims that Access seats will be offered “in addition” to award seats, which means that they shouldn’t be taking seats away from existing Saver and Advantage buckets.
A brilliant summary of the changes provided by Aaron!

This is the most convenient means for SQ to eliminate 95% of Saver awards and 75% of Advantage awards. Often the real devil of a devaluation is in the detail.

I hate to be cynical, but my long years on this earth has taught me that few of these things are ever good.

Oceania to Middle East / Istanbul was a small loophole which will be closed come 1 Nov

Post Covid, most Premium awards were only available as Advantage (as opposed to Saver) awards so there was already a huge devaluation in play!

Singapore “Access” rewards has a Qantas “Classic Plus” feel to it. I hope this doesn’t lead to less saver and advantage seats!

Ugh, horrible. Explains what I've been seeing over the past two months as I desperately seek a couple of tix for next year. I barely had 2 x 99K to do it, now I'm no chance at all. This will move my strategy to ex SIN as that's all I'll be able to do. It's been a good run for me over the past 7 years (COVID aside). 2.5m long-and-hard earned Velocity points well spent/transferred for a good deal of J Savers, I can't complain

Kris+ dining and shopping credits Is Melbourne and Sydney only! What happens to the rest of us?

There aren't that many options in SYD and MEL for Kris+. I hardly used it myself. It does take time to grow if SQ decided to keep expanding it.

Hmm where have I seen that before? 🤔

The days of Saver and Advantage appear numbered.
This is why the increase in miles is so marginal as to what we were all expecting. The real increase is hidden in Access; and even more so hidden in significantly reduced Saver and Advantage availability.
