Qantas to No Longer offer a Points option for Loyalty Bonus

I received an email from Qantas today:

"Your August Qantas Points balance, special offers and more"

Towards the end was a section: "Updated Loyalty Bonus for tired tiered Frequent Flyers"

Damn. I imagine this means there won't be any more 90 days windows to pick the bonus, which many find useful if the loyalty bonus is timed toward the end of a membership year.

Another reason for those who are LTG and already maintained WP or not targeting it to shift some spend elsewhere.

1350 if you aren't yet WP, but if already WP and striving to keep that number becomes 1150 + LB.

Maybe they need to remove the LB restrictions since there isnt another option i.e allow it to count toward P1.

I checked the terms and conditions ... no changes as yet.

Interesting.... my WP email received today didn't contain that at all.

Bronze SWMBO did not have the update either.

I think I opted for the SC once as I generally otherwise qualified. The points were more useful to me.

I am currently on 1191 SCs and was going to use the Loyalty Bonus for the 50SCs...however I have an award flight (Points Club member) end of next week which will earn me the extra 9 SCs to retain Plat. So i claimed the 8000 Qf pts as my Loyalty Bonus....looks like the Loyalty Bonus has been "enhanced"!

Especially when there appears to have only been selective notification thus far (ignoring that it's already <90 days as is).
