Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've been patiently waiting to see if the doc review passes without intervention, as success rates from calling seem to be next to zero - so far that strategy is not working! The review is still "in progress"... I'll give it a few more days before running the gauntlet with the call centre.

From what I've read the call centre is useless. C1 is so algo centric that they don't even have recon.

Foreign passports or other id won’t work .

The reason I asked is that I was able to get approved for a Savor card using my AU passport and my ITIN. But my account got restricted after approval and to unrestrict it, I had to rescan my AU passport and ITIN letter, provide AU payslips, the CVV on the back of my card and do a 3-way with BofA where I have a checking account.

I was curious to see if they tightened their rules and don't allow AU passports at all now.

My thinking is if you get an instant approval, C1 allows for just sending AU passport and ITIN letter. If it requires manual review, then ID requirements may be more restrictive.

And if your account gets restricted after approval, then you deal with the fraud team instead that I believe does accept AU passport to verify ID.

I've never sent passport to C1 during the application process. Sent my NSW Driver License instead and was approved. This was for the Spark plus card late last year.

My account was restricted in April this year and they're accepted my Australian passport after multiple calls. (The letter they sent said foreign passports can be used in lieu of govt issued ID if you're a foreign citizen but their customer service was adamant that foreign passports was not accepted.)

Either way I don't think cap1 is good for long term usage. Apply for the SUB and sock draw the card afterwards. They are trigger happy to restrict cards if you are abroad often and the required verification documents can be difficult for people living in Australia to obtain.

I got the HSBC Premier world card when the AF was 0 and was planning to keep it as it's my oldest card with 2yrs of credit history but now they have started charging AF of 95. Has anyone been able to get the AF waived as at time of signup the card came with no AF?

You can redeem reward points to redeem for AF .
And if you don’t have enough points they will credit you some or all required
I had the AF waived for both cards with all points credited by them .

Perhaps that was it.

I was gifted a $500 limit (!) to start with. After 5 months of diligently using close to $500/month, they auto-upgraded me to $2k.

I’m hoping they will continue to auto increase my limit if I continue to use the card

Interestingly the letter notifying me of the increase said that regularly updating your income was helpful. My initial income on application was actually based on my real Au income…

I’m wondering whether it will be detrimental to drop it back to the internet approved US$80k/year income at some point. I figure with that they are less likely to ask for proof of income again, however the risk might be that they question why my income has dropped ?

sounds painful - there is the current deal of v with 300 TC - I am 2 years now and looking at getting a card but would prefer to get the preapproval to hope I can slightly improve my odds of getting ID checks working - seems people wtih checking may have a better experience but maybe not

Not top 5 . 50 k Alaska points .l which I can use for J biz partner award . Most importantly as a biz card does not take up 5/24 . Also finding it difficult to get approved elsewhere .

Hmmm... Things have changed? Know that Chase Business Card do not count towards 5/24 card total but is governed by the unofficial 5/24 rule.

I like C1’s products but I can’t seem to get through. They even approved me for a spark business card only to ask for US State issued ID and they wouldn’t accept my AU Passport or evidence of AU payroll - only US payroll.

How can we get to ‘yes’ with C1? There will be fewer options in AU with the coming deval (oh, I mean ‘reform’) so I’m keen to make a go of this for points generation so I don’t go back to Y. Any ideas appreciate TIA.

The reduction of interchange (which funds our points) such that banks will have to cut the programs to shreds.

Apparently, we won’t have the farce of surcharges so it’s political capital for the politicians … so that’s reform.

P2 finally got the IHG Premier card after nearly 10 phone calls, with a starting limit of $20k. However, there have been all kinds of difficulties registering for online banking. Tried registering over the phone, but the card got frozen twice. The most recent time it was frozen, they said they couldn’t call my phone number (could not verify my number), and they cant ask public record questions either.. Now I have to wait 24–48 hours for security system to reset.. I tried using the “plugin method,” but after logging in at https://app.requestly.io/home, the interface looked different from the tutorial.

On my screen, there are two options: REST API and GraphQL API. I tried both, but neither worked. I’d really appreciate guidance from someone experienced with the plugin method . The card has been used for a few transactions these past two days, but it’s currently frozen. When I registered my own card for online banking before, it was fairly easy—I just did phone registration.

Below are screenshots of me trying the plugin method. The interface looks different from the tutorial, and I’m not sure what the issue is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

Just received my ITIN as well. The W7 was sent to the IRS on 13 March so just under the 7 week timeline (although for the IRS that it is impressively quick given that is tax season).

I used someone off Fiverr who was exceptional and was cheaper than SH Studios. If anyone is interested, DM me and I will share a link to his ad and a referral.

Question in the meantime, should I still apply for my first Amex using GT and not quote my ITIN? My plan is to apply for a Personal Gold using GT and then apply for a Hilton Amex (probably the free one or Surpass) using my ITIN 3 months later (unless anyone thinks it’s worthwhile applying sooner).

Let me try to explain and see if it makes a difference for you
Prerequisites ● G oogle Chrome ● R equestly Chrome Plugin


1. go to https://app.requestly.io/home and Find where you can see HTTP then click on New Rule


2. After click on New Rule - there is another pop up - select Modify Request Body

3. You will see below - Click REST API



4. Then you will see below - Add/Replace Example with svc/wl/auth/public/v4/user/enrollment/form/list next to URL Contains -


5. Then Click on Dynamic (JavaScript) - then Change the last line to
return body.replace('ssn', 'tin'); <= this is important


6. Click on Save RULE

7. After you save the Rule you can Test it if you want Or JUST Go straight to Chase Web page AGAIN to sign up for Online Account with ITIN.
