Overnight Layover in HK flying Cathay Business

That one is actually very nice....miles better than anything in AU.
Sad, isn't it.
I dislike the barn of a place that it is (no class whatsoever, oh, sorry). Similar to Singapore. I'll happily go to the CX lounges or, if in Singapore, the BA or QR lounge.

Either the Regal at the Airport or Novotel Citygate will be the best choice but expensive for the time spent.

Indeed. But there is a third option. The Regala Sky City.

The Regala Sky City is cheap and perhaps, surprisingly, not bad at all.

Depending on your final arrival/departure times, you might be able to get to/from the hotel using the Airport Express to/from Asia World Expo. A few minutes train trip at a special fare of about AUD 1.00. There is also a free hotel shuttle. But after midnight a taxi is advised for about AUD 7. 00.

Hope off your flights, grab a drink in the lounge, sleep at the Regal at the Airport.

This is my play, we have a similar situation in Dec

Nice find! Did a random search for next week and just AUD137 a night.

For a 7hr transit, it would be hardly worth it to go to a paid hotel on airside.

By the time you get off the plane, go through immigration etc, 1hr is gone. Likewise going back to airside.

Unfortunately that's just a bad layover time that you're probably better off heading to the recently re-opened CX lounge (The Bridge), then slumming it in the airport terminal after The Bridge closes.

To be fair… if the OP doesn’t have baggage it’s at most about 10 mins to get airside… electronic gates for outbound immigration and security is quick.

They must have changed things since I was there in Jan - upon arrival there were still manual immigration counters.
E gates have been a feature at HKG for 10+ years, Aussies last year had access without pre registration

Outbound!

Inbound you have to queue, unless you are registered as a frequent traveller (aussie passport will do).

But when leaving Hong Kong everyone can use the e-gates, no matter how you entered HK.
