Accor Plus Membership Discussion

The standard 20 nights. Quick to take your money weeks before renewal but cough at delivering.
I signed up via the QBR promo on the 24th. 20 nights posted almost immediately but still waiting for the 3k ALL points and 10k QBR bonus. But the Ta&Cs mentioned 30 days for those.

ALL issue rather than A+, but booked a stay last night and the 'use points' option was proposing 3000 points increments rather than 2000 points. Did this change recently?

I also saw this the other day when I made a booking. Maybe if you have a large points balance and have a large booking it proposes 3000 to speed things up a bit? Otherwise 2000 is still an option as at today.

I've noticed this recently as well, but it seemed to vary depending on the hotel and/or the room rate.

The redemption rate is always the same so...

Also charging back CC when the status nights haven't immediately credited at the start of the month is extreme. Are you short of the money or something... IME it always works itself out by mid-month.

This seems plausible. Hotel was Mercure at Sydney Central and booking was several nights on a flexible rate including a weekend just before Xmas, so no bargains available. The ALL website suggests you can redeem from 1,000 points on Hotel stays, with different minima for package deals and private homes.. Section 10 of the T&Cs, about redemptions, has an impressive collection of inconsistencies and dead links, but some highlights are here.
At the hotel, Reward points can be used with a minimum of 1,000 Reward points, entitling Members to a discount of 20 euros on the price, all taxes included, of accommodation or on-site expenses. As an exception, Reward points can only be used starting from 2,000 Reward points (equivalent to a discount of 40 euros) in venues located in France and from 500 Reward points in hotels located in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia and Taiwan (equivalent to a discount of 10 euros). A maximum of one million Reward points can be used at the hotel for the same stay.
but then later on
up to 1,000,000 Reward Points can be redeemed in multiples of 2,000 Reward points on the ALL.com website and app when booking.
I made a dummy booking for the same room at a similar rate for one night. The website didn't offer the use of points at all, an annoyance I've encountered before. The APP did offer the option of using points upfront with a minimum of 1,000 this time. This was on the same "member app offer" rate and the same room type for a similar price.

The end result appears to be the minimum you can use upfront when booking will depend on the vagaries of ALL's app. And the minimum the app offers appears to be related to the dollar value of the booking itself. And the website page about redemption says one thing and the T&Cs says others.

Cheers skip

Website must be getting an update later today

Looks like an announcement will be made today regarding changes to the program. From what I can gather the dining discount will become a flat 30% and the free night will be subject to a 2 night stay. Comes into effect October 1.
This will be fun over on the A+ Fb group 🤓🍿

I already thought the free night was subject to a 2 night stay, at least IME can never find free nights when looking for just 1 night on a weekend, but as soon as you search for 2 nights, no issue finding free + paid (and they always apply the free night to the cheaper of the 2 nights).

Then again i refuse to use the free night for any booking where it doesnt fully recoup the annual fee.

Currently it’s not a requirement but personally don’t have an issue with that changing

Changes landed

Well, they're not too bad actually.

  • The 15% off drinks gets extended to all Accor hotels in Asia/Pacific rather than Asia only.
  • 10% off hotels in Asia/Pacific changed to 15% off worldwide (but can no longer be combined with 5% ALL discount).
  • 20 status nights changed to 30 status nights (ie. automatic Gold rather than automatic Silver)..
  • 1 free night in Asia/Pacific changed to 2 free nights for stays of 2 nights or more (but with a caveat that it may not apply to all Explorer memberships ... waiting to see if it applies to those whose membership is through AmEx Platinum).
  • Dining discount becomes a flat 30%.
Particularly if there are now 2 free nights instead of 1 (and it is currently an "if"), that's an overall positive set of changes in my book. Hopefully I'm not missing something bad.

Overall I'd say neutral to a slight plus for me.
I generally used Stay Plus on multinights anyway, so having two is an improvement
Lose out a bit on the dining discount, but gain on the beverages.

Swings and roundabouts for us but think it might be a slight positive.
We eat out most nights as a couple and often at Accor properties so lose on the discount but pick that up with an extra stay plus night which as a rule usually gets us upgraded to a suite or one of the highest rooms on offer. We also stay quite a bit in the ME and Europe so the members rate should knock a bit of that price off. Drinks are an added bonus too
Not much to complain about from MPOV

Looks like you can no longer use the Accor+ renewal date trick to push out your status - Previously status was determined at renewal based on either the current or previous calendar year. In the new terms this has changed to "ALL Accor+ Explorer Membership status (e.g. Gold, Platinum and Diamond) is assessed in the same manner as ALL Accor members."

Also this clause might affect adding other methods to reach Platinum without staying "regardless of the number or types of ALL Accor+ memberships the Member holds, a limit of 30 bonus Status Nights awarded across all memberships held will be counted towards determining the annual Status Nights' balance for that Member"
