Hi I’m seeking advice on possible use of EK Skywards point to upgrade 2 Business class Cash tickets - Saver - on EK 431 … to first class.

Reasoning is - I’ve been told this BNE-DBX flight is on a 777 and has angled (not lie flat) business class seat.

I’m QFF LTG but I presume that won’t make any difference.

Any assistance would be great and thanks in advance. Andrew

Your reasoning is sound, what do you need to know? There doesn't seem to be a question in your post.

You are correct that your QFF LTG won't make any difference.

As this is an EK ticket, upgrading with EK miles, the thread would be more appropriately placed in the EK forum.

Welcome to AFF!

The only good thing to know is that even if your upgrade request gets denied before the flight, if there are seats available on the day of the flight you should be able to upgrade at the check-in counter or even at the gate.

Welcome to AFF!

Is your primary aim to fly EK F, or to avoid EK's coughpy business seat on unrefurbished 77Ws?

If the latter, you may want to think about flying other airlines like MH (who resume BNE from 29/11) who have better J seats.

We seriously considered ML having flown them in 2016 & 17 and we loved them but we also wanted to visit Dubai for our first time. To experience EK F was our 2nd focus 😀

Thanks for the advice

I have a client wanting to UG an I class syd nice
they said that when Z becomes avail I can upgrade but I never ever see Ek F seats using EK points,
only qantas points ,has anyone successfully upgraded I to Z?
no point having points on EK when its almost impossible to use on a First class ticket

I can't answer much of your query, but EK treats their elites exceptionally well.
Those elites, will always, without fail, get priority over anyone else, including QF elites.

Frankly, I'd just bid for an upgrade using cash if invited before departure.
Try again at airport, and you can even pay for upgrade onboard using cash or points.

The standard "buy seat and try to use points to upgrade" model is a thing of the past IMO.

Thanks for your advice and I'll certianly consider if and or when the upgrade offer is made. Regards Andrew
