SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

SQ are doing there blocking into Brisbane thing again for Krisflyer - nothing available after 1 July for next year. Groan
Is this just SIN-BNE or any origin regardless?
I just checked and you're right, 1 July there's Saver availability in J but 2 July onwards it's all Waitlist.
Does it eventually go to bookable or remains on Waitlist?

The proper, thick, colour-headed Boarding Passes really do make it a more premium experience doesn't it? These are the sorts of things that you'd be happy to frame as part of a core memory 😁

You'll also be happy to report that you can get a J, F or R BP reprinted at SIN transfer desks, there's plenty of supply of proper BPs at those desks, unlike the receipt paper slop they serve up at MEL SQ J check-in (the kiosks print on card stock, the counter prints out thin receipt paper).

Source: Flew ex-MEL 2 weeks ago in Y, then ex-SIN in J and got the ex-SIN BP reprinted in proper form at SIN T3 Transfer desk 😁

I looked at SIN to BNE only. All other capital cities are fine, so have booked Adelaide and will hopefully be able to change later. They did this to Brisbane in January but I did not check whether it became bookable later. I also think I might have read they did it to Sydney around March/April

I had the same issue July 2023 for June 2024. Ex BNE only

I actually can't find any partner (Star Alliance, Velocity) rewards on SYD - SIN at any time of the year (SIN - SYD is fine) - if someone does find any that would be great to know.

It's also impossible to book due to it being Lifemiles but I have seen that Lifemiles has also increased the miles required for business on SIN - SYD but not on any of the other Australian routes. I wonder if Singapore is starting to really modulate releases of reward tickets both through KrisFlyer and Partners.

Hypothetically, If you have 2 bookings on SQ

1. Booking A to SIN in F using KF miles
2. Booking B ex-SIN in J using VA points

Could you get the back checked all the way through? Has anyone ever tried this or similar?

Should be fine. I once got my bags checked in all the way through on a separate booking even though the second airline wasn't even SQ (obviously there was an interline agreement). So if the second booking is on SQ it should be even less of an issue.

The ticket numbers will be different, with different ticket stock (618 for SQ vs 795 for VA), however the baggage will all be 618 coded, especially as all flights are on SQ metal.

No worries at all with it :)

100% will be fine just have hard copies printed both sectors and present at checkin just in case agent has issues locating bookings
