Hi all

Just been doing a bit of a clear out and have come across several old cards of my journey over the years. Alas, I lost my QF Platinum one - but by then it was all digital. I always got really excited whenever these arrived in the post - especially if it was a step up to a new tier - and gave a real sense of achievement/accomplishment. Not sure if everyone else felt the same.

Of course, it is also a reminder of how easy it was to slip back if you didn't keep on top of your flights. This year will see my slip again further - so will have to do more work to try and get back to re-building the status credits - though not a cheap ask these days; particularly with video-conferencing etc. IMG_1126.jpeg

Has anyone else kept their selection of cards? How did these make you feel receiving them in the post?

Actually - as I typed that, i must not lose sight of the real irony that's just hit me on reflection:
  1. Most businesses/firms/organisations these days prefer to make use of IT/digital/video-conferencing etc. as an alternative to actual travel - so the days of large, wholescale office travel across continents isn't as prevalent these days.
  2. I feel sad that those days have passed - as there is something to be said for actual person-to-person connection as well as the passion and enjoyment i get as an avid plane spotter/aviation enthusiast/frequent flyer.
  3. However, being UK based - to keep the OF status credits up, I need travel on QF routes and those inevitably require flights to UK/Australia.
  4. As my current job does not permit me to travel and claim credits (breach of company policy); I have to fund these trips myself from personal savings.
  5. However, as I am already full time employed and need to earn more to keep flying; I am looking at remote/digital work to pay for those flights.
Therefore, it is a odd (and slightly vicious wheel). I feel sad that It/digital has impacted the ability to travel to claim status and reach the higher tiers, whilst simultaneously requiring and chasing the benefits of that very same IT/digital support to look for UK/AUS opportunities internationally in order to fund the very status I'm chasing....

Its funny how the world works....:D

I have a large collection of WP cards (fortunately). Not sure if I still have my original “White” card from before NB was a thing.
