Discover Qatar Stopover offer

Maybe I’m just imagining it but it has always seemed like they charge extra for the flights if it’s part of a stopover deal. Maybe they book the flights in a higher fare bucket or something for stop over packages.
We have just ended up booking the flights and hotels separately for this reason.

That's interesting to know. My TA initially priced and booked flights back from Saudi direct and then I said wanted to do the stopover, so she's now booked the new flights and its the same price. They'll ticket tomorrow. Hope we won't get a surprise when we do the hotels.

As I said maybe it’s just been a coincidence or something. If they have priced the same for you that’s excellent

I have 16 hours in Doha in a couple of weeks but they won’t pay for a hotel because I can get an earlier flight and only 3 hour stopover but I chose 19.30 departure rather than 08.30

If you are in and out and on QR on the one booking you can get a much reduced accommodation cost for up to 96 hours (4 nights).

I am booked on a DONE4 so no fare hijinks here.

When booking I allowed a week to see Doha ... turns out it's during the FIFA Arabic cup and hotel prices are sky high.

Using the QR offer I was able to book three nights at the Holiday Inn for ~AUD160 and heading to Dubai on AS awards for a couple of nights. This is ~$680 cheaper than a current direct booking at the same hotel for those three nights.

Yeah, I’ve just never found it to price anywhere near it.
Whenever I’ve looked for example return J flights for 2 might be $20k but the stopover package always prices out at a couple of thousand more
Is that Oz-DOH return or beyond?

Presumably the “stopover” deal doesn’t work if you’re not stoping over.

Beyond.
I have priced up some for various Euro trips we have flown and the dates I wanted I just couldn’t get them to come out at a similar fare. My theory was that the stopover packages tended to book into I fare which is Business Comfort whereas if you booked it normally you could book them as R fare which is business classic and usually a couple of thousand cheaper. I have no idea if they all price out this way or not or whether Business Comfort is the default fare that the stopover packages book into

I have been quoted $104 for 24 hours at the Hyatt regency

I booked a stopover on the return part of a return SIN-EU itinerary. The flights connecting to the stopover went into P class. Two nights accommodation for two people at 4* hotel was $72.

Would I be eligible for this if I booked two separate QR reward flights via Virgin Velocity?

Eg: Fly LCN-DOH on 30 June (first booking). Then DOH-BNE on 3 July (second booking)?

Well I’m not sure what’s going on here. I’ve just interrogated my travel agent about Discover Doha and what I've read here and they said - which agrees with what I’ve done with then in the past - is that the Hotel package is separate from airfares you buy.

They have booked for me a return fare to Europe with a stopover in Doha - and you’re allowed one stop over per return flight with no extra charge. That’s why the pricing I noted above was the same straight through or with the stopover.

But they haven't yet booked the hotels but will do when I get round to having a look at them and tell them what I want. Just have to quote the booking reference to be eligible.

So I don’t know if we’re talking about different things or what I’m doing is a travel agent privilege,

This thread is about a thing not specific to a TA, although a TA could book it.

I booked myself, initially quoting two separate PNR's; one into DOH on QR being part of a DONE4 and out on a QR side trip out 3 days later. This was rejected.

I then tried again with 3 nights, quoting the single PNR for the 7 day DONE4 stopover at Doha - no issues.

Yes, I know, but I was just contrasting my experience with that of others, @jase05 in particular who seemed to be getting different air pricing.
I don’t know if it was just a glitch or not at the time but I’ve done a couple of dummy bookings for when we want to go in October and it appears to price out correctly now.
With the package you have the option of booking it directly on the website/app when you book your flights and you pay for it all at once as a package or you can just book flights and then go back in later with booking reference number and book/pay for stopover seperately

This thread is about accommodation during layovers at DOH booked separately from flights.

It is not about packages including flight and accommodation.

Can you use this if you are on QR flights as part of a DONEx that is ticketed on another airline stock ?
QR flights will be QR metal and QR operated.
I have booked so for 3 days (really 72 hours).

DONE4, 081- ticket. Arrive 7th, depart 14th both on QR.

(Booked 8th-9th before a 2 day side trip to DXB and back.)

OK, so we have clarified this is not the thread for that discussion.
Not really. I honestly don’t know what the issue is.. The topic is about the 'Discover Doha stopover offer' and my post was on that topic, just booked through a travel agent and not myself. As I said, it was attempting to clarify some issues that have been reported earlier.

There is no issue. I have clarified in post #34.

My travel agent which is from the same agency there @RooFlyer told me that Qatar would pay for my accommodation as I had 16 hours in Doha.

When he went to book it, they refused because I could’ve caught an earlier flight out of London and not had the long layover. But I chose to leave on the 7:30 pm flight rather than that early morning flight.
