All,

I managed to get myself a super cheap flight LHR-MEL return for sub £400 back in June (fare itself was only £64, the rest taxes!).

According to the ticket / fare conditions I am allocated V class and can't earn any miles with SQ FF programme KrisFlyer.

I've searched through most of the *A partners and they too exclude SQ V class from mileage accrual. Ironically though, SQ recognises selected airlines' V class flights for mileage accrual to KrisFlyer.

The only airline website which didn't specifically outline fare classes for accrual exclusion in economy was DL's SkyMiles.

Does anybody know if I could earn the mileage on SkyMiles, or any other airline FF programme for an SQ V class flight?

It would be a shame to lose the points!

If SQ don't accrue in their own program, it's almost a certainty that they won't accrue in anyone elses program either.

You may not end up with miles with anyone, but hey, it was < £400 so who cares!

One airlines 'V' class doesn't always equal another airlines 'V' class.

I'm with dajop, if SQ don't accrue points on their own 'V' fares, I can't imagine any other airline will.

+1

From the MEL end, there has been some cheapies, but never anything circa $800AUD for a fare in the other direction. £400 seems an LCC-esque fare, so be happy to fly on SQ at those prices.

Ive just had a glance through most of the Star Alliance partners and they don't accrue for V.

Delta has discontinued its partnership with SQ so you won't be able to get any miles there anymore~

Thanks to all for your quick response.

Safe to say that I wouldn't have started the idea of accumulating the V class mileage points unless I had seen the following from SQ:

http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/docs/krisflyer/Earn_Miles/KFOALLevels.pdf

I felt that if SQ credit other airlines' V class miles, surely it would be reciprocated; a reasonable extrapolation one would think.

Grateful for the SQ cheap flight (sans points ) as it'll be my first journey on an A380.

Generally speaking, I do find fares out of Europe to Australia are much cheaper. Not unusual to get sub £600 returns on some of the major players if you time it right.

As others have noted, there's little point comparing another star alliance members V class accrual rules to SQ's, each airline uses booking classes differently, so what is a low yield economy bucket on SQ could very well be a much higher yielding fare bucket on another carrier.

If the rules state no SQ FFP accrual, you can bet your life that SQ wont pay out to have you accrue the points on another carriers FFP.
