ANA Business Class deals from Australia

Not sure about a "deal", but just booked J in ANA from SYD - LAX - SYD (Via HND) for $6241 for a mid May flight, which is like 3000 less than Cathay Pacific. United and QF are in the 12000+ range!

And i was reading an article saying someone got detained in the US for going there indirect because they booked cheap fares

And deported after arriving in JFK from SYD via HKG

They used to regularly do return flights in J for ~$2800 but nothing really for about the last year or so. I paid about that in September last year and my only real complaint is that the seats are looking tired and could do with a revamp. Service and food were excellent. They seem to be running deals on economy fairly regularly but nothing for J.

I normally just head over to OzBargain and set up an alert. Those nerds are usually pretty quick with deals.

At LAX, I wasn't questioned about the 'funny' transit (via HND) and managed to get in without a strip/cavity search! I also enjoyed the J in ANA, as I have never travelled in a B787, 788, 789 J class ever before. I have only travelled on J class in SQ B777 and A350, A 380 (which are all great products).

Was it "the Room" on ANA, or the older J seat? I like the look of the space in the Room but it doesn't actually look comfortable to me in seat mode. I am tempted by SYD-HND-JFK in J but wary of sitting a bench, albeit a very wide bench. SBD

Nah, it was the older business class product on the 78X series. Looks like the Room is only available on B777. The seat width is 38 inch in the room, whilst it was only 23 in B78X. From memory, I think it is 28 in SQ.

Just noting that the new 787 (and refurb program) J seats will be shown in a few weeks time at Paris Air Show for the 787s. (Y, Y+ already shown) Refurbishment to start later this year and for new deliveries.
