Virgin Australia UpgradeMe pricing and success

Yes you are correct! It's ADL from PER that I have popped in 60 dollars (min 55). It's a min of 200 for MEL. Should I? I only see 2 seats on expert flyer being free. Maybe just stick and save my money. Currently in 3A.
Yeah I don't see value either in a $200 offering even for a 4hr flight over row 3 or even row 4 or 5.
$60 $80 yeah, meal and drinks or 2 with comfort yes.

Why give a miss? 60 dollars say seems worthy. I've just said 60 dollars from PER to MEL so doubt that will work....but who knows. ,🤔🤭
Basically two morning flights where I have row 3 already. I'd already upgraded the afternoon returns with platinum upgrade credits.

Well my bid of 70 dollars (did not think it worthwhile going any higher) as I was already in Row 3 for DRW to PER last night was rejected!! Lol. I think I still won with 3b vacant and old style screen in front of me. 😁

By the way .did you know it's over 18 dollars for a pint of lager at DRW ...seriously!! That's Oslo prices!!

Does anyone know if it's possible to submit both an UpgradeMe bid and a points upgrade at the same time? Currently on the waitlist for the points upgrade. if I put in a bid, would I be taken off the waitlist? If not, what's the priority - do they process cash first or points upgrade first (I believe QF always does points upgrades first)?

I bid on a flight on this Friday around noon (in ~40 hours' time) for the 2 of us. There are still 2 business class seats for sale,...when will I find out whether I'm successful or not?

According to the website, no less than 3 hours before!

No, complete opposite to QF.

VA points upgrades are a waste of space.
Is that true?? A few years ago, I had waitlisted a points upgrade and had also bid on an upgrade on the same flight. The points upgrade cleared first.

CNS-BNE this Friday morning. Put in a bid earlier this week for $70 and they came back pretty promptly that $265 would "outbid" and I guess get me the seat?
Have the return flight for Sunday with the same bid amount.

AFAIK, that’s very unusual.

More recently, flying OOL-MEL my Bid failed and the points request just wallowed in VFF purgatory.

When I have done this, success was generally indicated overnight before the flight. I have come across anecdotes that some get it the day prior, possibly on lightly booked cabins.

I do know that with all but one business cabin I have flown this year, if not already full the day prior, became so overnight. (No chance of upgrading in the lounge.)

@kpc , if it is the flight I think it is, currently it is showing J6 D4 with only 1A & 1K allocated.

There are now 4 business seats still for sale....so fingers crossed

Edit: just checked again...you are right @serfty ...there are 6 business seats still for sale. :)

Usually within 24hours if still available they can release as award seats.

No idea of circumstances but definitely seen it many times. maybe less so on Fri/sat/sun due to demand.
