Strategy to obtain US Amex

What US pay platform do you all use? e.g like the using Yakpay in Australia
Does sending money to settle a private debt raise flags with the card provider, specifically Chas and Amex?
What about using Paypal?
Would you not still use Yakpay with a US credit card?

I'm not sure what you mean about using Wise to fund a personal account. Do you mean having WISE debit from a US credit card to pay a personal account in AU?

Because they do not operate in US and MsP (applicant) lives in US. In any event for Yakpay you need an ABN which she does not have.

Yes, exactly. I am just reading terms now to see if "cash-like" payments (like paying a debt back to her father) do not qualify for MSR. They may not.

Does anyone use WISE to transfer funds from US internationally to a personal account in order to meet the MSR?

would be considered a cash advance and ineligible for this purpose if I’m not wrong.

Thanks for confirmation @blacksultan

Another option could be to add me to the account, an "authorised user" so that I can make up any spend shortfall say on something like council rates.

She probably doesnt even need to add you as an authorised user to pay council rates - you should be able to pay for the rates via CC via online payment methods
But yes - you could get added as an AU if you have ITIN/SSN too

If she is US based she may be able to open a bank acount or two and fund some of the money with a credit card - Some will count as a cash advance, some won't - just an idea

Of-course, just send her the payment link.

Where did you get the phone number? Does the IVR ask you for an ITIN?

Pretty sure it was listed on the letter that the card was attached to
Can’t remember what it asked
I tried activating via the C1 app (no VPN) which went all the way through to the final stage where it failed and gave me a number to call. I called, the IVR requested standard verification information (can't remember specifically if SSN/ITIN was required) and after verification the IVR stated that because I called from the number on file it was happy to verify me and activate the card.
