Earn rate on car insurance

Can’t find a specific reference in the T&Cs but does anyone know if you earn the full 2.25pts on purchased car insurance (with GIO)?

The Qantas Titanium card refers to ‘government-like’ companies and actually refers to insurance.

Was thinking that if Amex use the government earn of 1:1 then I’d use my U.S. card but I can’t find a definitive reference.

Any thoughts greatly apptyeciated.

Yes, I understand that, but some credit cards refer to "government-like" charges in their definition of eligible charges. Insurance charges are specifically mentioned in some (as are utilities - some privately owned etc etc etc). Just curious if anyone had a definitive answer from the T&Cs or experience, that's all

I'm just a little confused and possibly out of my depth ... you're referring to an AmEx "Qantas Titanium" card? To my knowledge AmEx doesn't offer such a card ... or are you referring to the Qantas Titanium Mastercard and asking whether its T&Cs will affect the points you earn on your AmEx card?

Sorry for being dense and not understanding but can you clarify ... what's the AmEx card you want to pay your insurance with?

Was referring to the earn rate on the Amex Platinum card (I knew I was on the Amex thread and my typing got ahead of my brain/thought process)

I was merely referencing another card (the Qantas one) to point out that some providers distinguish between government, “government-like” and all other providers in the earn rate for ‘eligible’ purchases

Ah, I understand!

Well, I think I can help. I have paid insurance countless times with my AmEx card (never GIO, but lots of others) and I have always received the full 2.25ppd for what I have paid.
