Just reported on 3aw that QF has had a worldwide computer failure and that all BPs have to be hand written. Natuarally this is slowing everything down.

Sounds like peak hour will be fun tonight.

Hope no one is unduly delayed.

But expect to see reports from those who are. :)

just dropped a relative at mel airport - complete choas even in the J line.

They are doing everybody flight by flight which means an hour or more in queue.

Woud expect a number of diversions

Feel sorry for the check-in agents and those who've not OLCI'd.

Anyone have further information on how wide the impacts of this are?

OLCI passengers with luggage still have problems. It is a worlwide Amadaeus outage.

News.com.au headline says Qantas, but read further on and it is Amadeus and affects 485 airlines. Here we go again.

. Here we go again.

I disagree. Whilst I have a huge problem with much nonews reporting blowing some safety issues out of proportion, this article is fairly balanced, does not allude to Qantas being at fault and the event is uncommon and probably has caused some disruption.

The headline says "Qantas check-ins thrown into chaos after computer system failure" , which is for once not oversensationalising the issue.

I just called the QF premium number, because I have a flight in the morning and I wanted to check the status, and the agent informed me that the problem has just been resolved. He said that while there would be a backlog tonight, they anticipated that it would be cleared by tomorrow morning.

But how many people simply glance at the article and only pay attention to the headline? There is a lot of psychology which nonews use to put anti QF thoughts into peoples minds.
