Got a flight on 10 Nov in Y, sitting in 50A ..

Not sure if I should put in a request for business, it is 40,000 points, alot IMO.

Looks pretty empty...

Hoping I'll get a phone call two days out to upgrade using cash (lol) ... I'm in V class, so eligible for points upgrade. If only it was Y, I'd only have to pay 25,000 points!

It is a day flight, so maybe it's not worth it, but I thought I could put my leg up and hope it doesn't swell up (from an injury I've sustained). Flew SYD-BNE yesterday and it is still swollen up from the flight :( NM has mentioned it isn't worth doing the day upgrade, but just concerned about the leg.

To J or not to J (Request) :?:

I would suggest paying $80 and getting an exit row or , if wanting more comfort perhaps 25,000 points for Premium Economy. I wouldn't worry about getting a skybed for a daytime flight

mm i dont have much experience in travelling long haul - so I can only compare this to a Melbourne to KL flight (about the same duration).

Im a portly lady, so such things are an issue. But I noticed on a day time flight I was happy to roam around, stretch and the like.

Id say take a good selection of movies on an Ipod, a good book and set your watch for plenty of breaks and take water - get an aisle seat

spend the extra points on something nice like a hotel or taking your significant other out

you did mention an injury, if you want a brually honest answer there is enough evidence to suggest business class will not make that much difference.

But go to a GP and if your leg can stand it get some resistance bands and do some exercises

also do some post & pre flight looking after your leg - including swimming to help with the strengthing

and have fun in HKG!

Thanks Natt. Currently seeing physio 3 times per week plus tri weekly visits to surgeon, as I need to get back into training asap. Competing sucks at its best :) As we speak icing ankle right now after copious amounts of theraband exercises!

Gosh :!:

sounds like you are on it

Good luck with the recovery - I distinctly remember a martial arts grading where a head high kick went wrong. My body moved but not my ankle - and a loud snap followed - took 6 months to rehabilitate :P

I am sure you will be fine - you sound wiser than me

In any case I agree with the others, for a daytime flight get a nice aisle seat or look for a paid exit* seat.

*Of course, with convalescing, exit sets require full health ... will you be OK?

Last 2 times I took QF127 I have not bothered using points for upgrade or even paying for exit row seats. Being a daytime flight I am content to sit in the seat time for which my ticket was purchased. However, both times I was operationally upgraded to Y+, which was gratefully accepted.

Well I have bit the bullet and put the request back in. I think this will be the last time to fly this year, and there seems to be some availability, so hopefully an upgrade will work, or 40G it will be .. my leg seems to be better, and it WILL swell, it's just the cabin pressure. Maybe I'll ask for 10 pillows to prop it up

My inbound flight is so different, sitting at 72J ... I highly doubt there will be an upgrades happening!

Interesting that "Select Seats" gave me the choice of

Lower: 25A, 26A, 26B
Upper: NONE

However when I save one, it says Preferences could not be saved :!:

Rang up and asked for an aisle (as I need to get up quite often for this flight to stretch), was told that upgrades are not elgible for any seat requests despite profile :-| to J or F

Asked QF Dragon if was oversold, she said I could not ask for priviliged or commercially sensitive information. She said she would only say if it was nearing full or not, and the "flight isn't really full". If only she knew I could see the class avail LOL ....

Oh I am so excited, I hope the upgrade comes through :D

Any seats on this that I should avoid in J? (I really want to try to fly in upper deck, never been upstairs )
