As for us. IMHO it’s a matter of trust in a marriage or permanent relationship. Some may not have this but we have always believed it. Plus it’s a real PITB to go to dinner with couples with independent accounts who want to pay separately.
Surprise presents are sometimes mentioned as an issue but own credit cards can solve that

When its not friends ie people we may have met travelling we discuss upfront how it will be split.
Given we hate all that ‘I did not have the garlic bread’ nonsense we split the food and we may say drinks split between thise who drink alcohol. I stick to water.

- forgotten wallets (hence the pre-meal discussion)
- everyone puts in cash (and to cover the tip ) but only amount on bill is paid on the credit card of someone who makes a profit

Ah, well due to cabotage rights you can't pick it up in MRU, you have to do IST-MRU-TNR. It's an A330, so 2-2-2 layout. Seat is meh as you have to step over, or be stepped over unless you sit in the middle, but food is good. Even my meal on LGW-IST tonight was very good. Slightly strange order of service, but otherwise good.

Car parked some time after 9pm and before 5-6am (one neighbour said he saw it, and he's an early morning gym guy). Bonnet cold when we were trying to leave for school dropoff and work at 7:40am-ish. Tried knocking on neighbouring doors - no answers, apart from gym guy. Not likely to be further up the street. Not a car I recognise, but we've had new tenants move in next door and two doors' down in the past ~3 months.
Called Police Link, they couldn't get in contact with the registered owner. They transferred me to BCC, who said they'd send a parking inspector in the next 3 hrs to issue a fine. Parking person calls me 1hr later to ask if the car is still there - I had no idea as I'm at work by now!
Called an Uber to take the Teen to school, and Mr Katie and I got a train to work.
Left a note under the windscreen wiper, and decided to take the high road and ask them to PLEASE not park over our driveway if they're a regular visitor or parker in this street.
Our car port is unusual for our area, as it has a garage good, which is along our fence/hedge line. The rest of the 10m frontage is hedge and a wooden verandah door (old school Queenslander/cottage style) as our front gate. The driveway is a bit hidden, and the grass is overrun at the moment, it's not even the classic suburban 60s two rows of concrete. BUT there is a FREAKING garage door right there!
Apparently council can get the car towed after issuing a fine/attending. Mr Katie said he might go home early, so we'll see if it's still there in the morning.
My strong suspicion is the car is owned by a friend or partner of someone two doors down. I've had a few instances of another car standing out the front of our house (both legally, and blocking our driveaway enough I couldn't enter) while a pash session occurred in the car.
It happens to me every other day! It's my neighbour. I ask them not to ... but they do. We do otherwise get along well with them, so .. shrug?

Given up on dividing bills at the table. Given I like wine (an not other peoples' choices!), I pay the full bill, discount the wine portions for some them who don't drinkl, divide the rest and email them bills which are paid by bank transfer.
