Hi,

Looking at booking the family (2adults + 2 kids) on a business lite fare class D from Tokyo to Sydney.

I generally redeem 1 J class trip for the family from Syd-Asia each year directly through Kris as it's during school holidays and they are gone before available on Velocity.

Trying to work out if i should direct all points/status credits to velocity to gain from family pooling and i believe almost gold status.

Hoping someone can confirm my understanding is correct,

I believe flight is 4858 actual miles flown from Kris flyer calculator this should give 120 velocity status credits per person which would be 480. I can probably make the additional 20 from flybuys or a status run.

note: kids are 8 and 10 and would need velocity account and family pooling turned on.

would this be correct?

You'll also need to fly your own 4 eligible sectors (not through family pooling) for Gold status:

thanks for that additional piece, as i assumed that could be pooled. Do i get 2 sectors on the Tokyo-Sin-Syd flight? So i would need a return domestic flight to obtain the additional 2 sectors is that correct?

Eligible Sector: a flight with a “VA” flight number that you have flown excluding Reward Seats and Economy Lite fares.

OK, i would need 2 domestic return flights as the SQ flight won't count as it won't have a VA flight number.

Yes - and it'll need to be within 12 months while the status credits still count

All correct. You can family pool points and SC's but not eligible sectors.
