Howdy

I am looking to stay at the Hilton on the park in Melbourne (its close to the customer site).

hilton.com lists the property at $235/$255 per night room only
wotif lists the property at $219 per night with a heap of extras

both are for the same base room.

is it worth trying to get the price guarantee out of hilton? $50 wouldn't be too bad to have in my pocket, or are they going to say - it was booked on a 3rd party site, or this was a package not room only so it doesn't count.

thanks

Hilton have a price match policy in the USA so give them a try on the local number and ask for a match up.
I saved US$26 times 15 room nights plus I still earned HH points.

it was booked on a 3rd party site,
Should be fine on that count; it's usually the reverse that's an issue i.e. you can't book on affiliated sites.

or this was a package not room only so it doesn't count.

As long as it complies with this long list (which doesn't refer to bundles/inclusions) you should be fine: The term “Same Accommodations” is defined as the same accommodations at the same hotel with the same dates of stay, same length of stay, same number of guests, same room type, same cancellation and advance purchase policies, and the same terms and conditions governing the room rate.
