Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Another great stay at Brisbane. Wrapped to see that buffet breakfast and barista coffee is still free of charge for diamonds. I'm finding the digital keys are super temperamental so I've had to grab a physical key from reception the last few stays.
Hilton Brisbane is top notch, got the full Diamond-level experience there. Only Hilton-branded hotel which I got upgraded to a suite/top room free of charge in Australia. Everything was free for breakfast, even the made to order omelettes.

I stayed there a few weeks ago and was charged for coffee.

Breakfast was offered of course, and looked quite good, but we skipped it and opted to sample some of Rome's best Maritozzo while hitting all the major attractions between 6:30am and 9:30am before the tourist peak hour kicks in.

Probably just as well. Stayed there twice mid last year and the breakfast was very average for a $700+ hotel. My two paid stays were upgraded from base level to top floor much larger room with balcony and nice views.

Hilton Diagonal Mar, Barcelona
5 nights Mar-April 2023
Status: Member (ie. pleb)
Booked: King city view
Received: King partial ocean view
Amenity: “Welcome bag” (paper bag with hotel info and a cookie).

Nice hotel convenient to conference centre, convenient large shopping mall across road. Long walk into historic/touristic part of town but easy access to trams and nice walk along beachfront.

Large EY conference ongoing at the time that I was there that put pressure on lobby, and lifts were being repaired so that was problematic when a large group was departing/arriving but rooms were quiet and staff were great. Excellent breakfast options.

Would stay again if at meeting at ICC but otherwise would stay closer to town if going for tourist visit or meeting elsewhere in city.

I am staying there later in the year.
Will be at the ICC.

Last time I stayed there the lobby was crawling with F1 team support staff as I was checking out (I had an OMG o'clock flight back to LHR booked fairly last minute on the Monday morning).
Were the F1 team support staff levied with the coffee tax? :)

Hilton Surfers Paradise
Diamond
Booked: Guest Room
Received: Executive Room
1 night @ $155 GOV

Upgrade notification received on the app/email a few days before check in. Worth noting that there were plenty of paid upgrades available for apartments starting at a lousy $4 (one bedroom apartment). I think the 3 bed 2 bath apartment was $140~ for the night. Bottle of red waiting in the room for me (welcome amenity). No charge for full buffet or barista coffee either.

EDITED
Hilton Doubletree, York - chosen due to proximity to York Minster.
Early May 2023
Status: Diamond
Booked: Standard double
Received: Offered upgrade to 'family room' - declined as it was faced the main road. Instead given a 'deluxe room'🤣, but quiet. Its anything but 'deluxe'! - But I understand pretty normal for a DT.
Amenity: Not a cracker, other than breakfast, which was pretty basic. No recognition at check-in or amenity in the room. Got an on-site parking spot. Not sure if because of status, or because I checked in early (room not available) and asked for a park.
Quite a good restaurant on site.
Overall, the place is a rabbit warren - old buildings adapted, new buildings tacked on. Quite un-appealing TBH.

BUT I got a quiet room. I ❤️ the view (genuinely - no noise)

That looks horrid. How much a night was it?

Def a contender for worst hotel. The land of Fawlty Towers indeed!

Really? The inside looks like a standard DT room. Nothing I can fault from the photos.

Outside - well it's a medieval city I'm sure this hotel has heritage restrictions so not a lot you can do. If you want modern York is not for you.

That said the lived experience by @RooFlyer may differ, I'm only going from the photos.
