That’s interesting but you know that it not about being overly social. It just takes someone with covid in a lift with you or next to you at the checkout in a supermarket and you can get infected by covid.
Yes of course, but people here might go to pubs, meet with friends every second day etc. The most crowded place I'd go to would be the casino, but I hardly go during peak times like Fri and Sat nights.
I have not read all the recent posts, but Pfizer and Moderna have upped the price of vaccines 200-400% -but hard verify/ to second source this fact. Costing our health PBS system dearly. Maybe they should be dropped at this point in time. Secondly , various leaks and emails, the thrust being coverups and censoring Dr's saying natural immunity - dont need a shot - anything that may hurt sales. Leaks for the European regulator side, lead me to believe ATAGI were conned stupid. Now are we going to punish misrepresentation by omission or what.
Yes with the changes at twitter it is remarkable what is being released with the US government and Pfizer actively pursuing the censoring of information that indeed wasn't wrong such as natural immunity is better than vaccine immunity. common sense really. vaccination produces antibodies to the antigen presented but natural immunity can produce antibodies to all the viral antigens.
Why did this matter? Well prioritising those who hadn't had Covid in the at risk groups getting vaccinated first. just for one.
But there may be developements down the track that will reduce the need for frequent boosters. A new form of treatment called nanobodies. these have been around for some time with people trying to discover ways to use them. here is one article on what they are.
This planet is home to countless species, some more well-known than the others. While we have developed many techniques to be able to interrogate some of the “omics”, proteomics is becoming recognized as a very important part of the puzzle, given ...

But there is a new paper out using aerosolised nanobodies against Covid in mice by nasal administration. It has been shown to be effective in preventing disease or after exposure to the virus dramatically decreasing it's replication hence much less severe disease. As it is in a puffer can be used outside of a health care setting. Still some way before it is trialed on us humans.
Liu et al. isolate two nanobodies (R14 and S43) and construct their multivalent derivatives with increased potencies and breadth against SARS-CoV-2 variants. Particularly, decameric R14, maintaining similar activities after aerosolization, efficiently prevents BA.2 infections in both pre- and...
A friend told me that and on one level the logic makes sense - that if covid deaths include those who died with covid then it makes sense that people who died vaxxed should also be a Vax death..
The most interesting part was his story of getting in to an argument with a double masker who insists on the former but not the latter

I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly but anyone recommending natural immunity against any virus has rocks in their head.
I know they have not done a great job with the covid vaccines but I would not want to catch covid to have natural immunity. My preference Is vaccination and avoid getting covid.
On the other hand they've done a great job with the flu vaccine. It has saved my life. Even if I get the flu just one more time this lifetime it is one time too many.
As ever, there are a range of opinions. I don't doubt that natural immunity trumps the current vaccines, but it might not be very nice getting there without the vaccine. Natural immunity won't help very much if you're dead or severely disabled through Covid. But that's possibly academic in some circles.
However, I can now see why the Govt is so reticent to allow a 3rd booster shot, due to the cost. What does it matter if a few more oldies die? In fact it would improve the budget all round, with lower payouts for pensions, hospitals, medicare, etc.

A safety monitoring system flagged that U.S. drugmaker Pfizer Inc and German partner BioNTech's updated COVID-19 shot could be linked to a type of brain stroke in older adults, according to preliminary data analyzed by U.S. health authorities.

This finding got reported initally by a number of media outlets I monitor but by lunchtime these reports had been "corrected"...
US federal health officials said it is "very unlikely" that Pfizer's bivalent COVID-19 shot carries an increased risk of stroke for people aged 65 and older, after it launched an investigation into a preliminary safety concern detected by one of its monitoring systems. The US Centers fo

Yes, on one level the equivalence of argument makes sense. Too much sense. Which is why I don’t like the definition of some one dying ‘with Covid’ as dying ‘of Covid’ or ‘a Covid death’.
But is this the second or third time for this discussion aspect ?
And I have my doubts as to the recording of vaccine side effects. In the last 6 months of working in Tasmania I saw 3 new cases of the guillain barre syndrome. all confirmed by a neurologist. Normally I may have seen 1 a year and some years none at all.
All 3 happened within a week of having the Pfizer vaccine. But none were accepted as vaccine caused.

I see probably one a month / every two months.
Can’t say I’ve noticed any change in this in the Covid vaccine era.
Don’t specifically recall any that had a correlation with vaccination.

We can’t keep boosting every 6 months unless there‘s clear medical evidence that that is what is needed. If people got boosted again before Christmas the booster would have waned a lot before next winter. I expect there’ll be an announcement of plans for another booster later this month or in February.
COVID-19 is still getting into aged care homes, but with vaccination and previous infections and newer variants it’s not leading to the huge death rate per infection that we saw in Victoria earlier in the pandemic.
PBS has a duty to guard the public pocket. Over the years, the virus has mellowed, and a good percentage of the population adequately protected, against milder more transmissible variants (bar at risk types). In light of new information, what is going to happen next is a fair question. You do not forgive being had. Then there are these 'supply' issues based on a competent availability, which is also not happening. None of this 'we cant use this leaked stuff'.

interested any views regarding points raised in this YT discussion regarding potential long term effectiveness of using mRNA boosters ... drron, Princess Fiona?

Problem is any changes to the PBS will be blamed on politicians, and none of them have the guts to standup to the covid hysteria (remember certain states and their borders before elections).
It’s quite obvious that continuing with free vaccinations for whoever wants them is flushing money down the toilet (just as free PCR testing was), but I can’t see a politician brave enough to touch it. Just look at people desperate for 4th, 5th, 6th shots despite knowing it’s a waste of time. Yet those of us who do the right thing and get vaccinations for travel are stuck paying (and paying a lot).
