Bonza Airline Discussion

Friend who works in the accommodation sector says they received an application from Bonza (more specifically the firm who they've hired) to become a "disrupted journey" hotel for cancelled pax/crew on the Whitsundays.
I don't know if it's just me but surely if they are close to launch, all this stuff would be already done, no?

From this Bonza link they are still looking for many staff.

Will be interesting to see the app and how stable it is. The others all have terrible apps that are so buggy.

Apparently it’s all via the app, ordering food onboard, booking flights, chatting with the contact centre and so on.

Is a couple of these regional routes I am interested in so I am quite curious to see how this whole regional like operation will play out.

Will be interesting to see how long until flights on sale, when first flight(s) and what sort of schedule they will run initially, how reliable initial ops are, and how the app holds up.

Will be interesting to track AB's progress in 6 months time to see which 'underperforming' routes out of MCY will be cut, or changed to another ex-MCY route or moved to MEL.

Keeping in mind Bonza will also be targeting customers living in the surrounding Gympie, Cooloola Coast and North Brisbane (Caboolture, Burpengary, North Lakes, etc) areas as an 'alternative' to BNE.

I think you won’t see much growth from MCY beyond the 2 aircraft they have based there, I’d expect the rest of the growth from MEL.

The equity mob who owns this is here to make money so I’d expect an appearance at Sydney eventually. Tiger said the same, we are avoiding Sydney. Different story when the owner gets a smell of the Sydney margins on the table.

MCY has the first 3 aircraft. MEL has aircraft 4 onwards.
Aircraft 4 is on its way to MCY atm as I type this.

Bonza said they were looking at 8 before the end of this year, but I'm predicting no more than 6.

Will be interesting to see how long until flights on sale,
Days rather than weeks
when first flight(s)
Feb, maybe sooner
and what sort of schedule they will run initially,
17 routes from MCY, original stated intent was twice weekly or so wasn’t it?
how reliable initial ops are,
Little redundancy with 3 or 4 aircraft
and how the app holds up.
All or nothing unless you book via agent...

Thanks for the article linked - those quotes re (approx) start dates weren’t out there when i posted.

Agree with you re: low redundancy - will be interesting to see how they juggle IRROPs (Always a hard test for a new, small fleet carrier). And the app only is going to be interesting……
