Could anybody who has flown ex HBA recently be kind enough please to confirm for me whether Mr Joyce has been able to shake enough pennies out of his piggy bank to keep the HBA Qantas Club open all day from one hour before the first flight of the day until boarding is called for the last flight (as it was pre pandemic), or whether it's still opening and closing all day like a jack in the box?

Thanks!

Thanks for that Ade .... but ...

Call me a cynic, but I don't trust the Qantas web site that much! I'd still be interested to hear confirmation from someone who has actually been there in the last few days!

There’s an AFF member in Tassie who does a lot of posting and may be able to sniff that out. 😉

Yes, but to get back to my point, will the lounge actually be open! 😏

Only open for QF flights. It doesn’t stay open for JQ FLIGHTS and that was the case way back in 2017

It does specifically refer to "last Qantas departure"...

Indeed it does ... am I misreading this? On the web site it says LAST Qantas departure. I interpreted Capt Cool's post as meaning EACH Qantas departure ... which is how it has been for the last six months or so ... hence closed most of the cday, no use if you're flying with Jetstar.

Oh well, I'll find out on Tuesday.

Thanks ... as I suspected, their web site is misinformation. Quelle surprise! 😒
It is the Qantas club so it’s primary purpose is Qantas flights. This became apparent to me in 2017 when I’d booked JQ direct to Adelaide, rocked up to enjoy the JETSTAR club and it was CLOSED Because the last QF flight had departed.

while both airlines sit within the Qantas Group, the Club hours only serve JQ flights when they are inside the first and last QF flights on any given day. JQ as the low cost carrier doesn’t have its own club lounge

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood you. So you're essentially saying the info on the Q web site is correct? Thanks.

Was fortunate enough to get in on a JQ flight in the mid afternoon, still with several Q flights to depart. The staff did not hesitate to let me in even though it was reasonably busy from a delayed Brisbane bound flight.
A welcome respite from the manic terminal that afternoon

I was there a couple of weeks ago and it was open, from what the front desk told me they are open all day. I was also on a JQ flight and had no issues entering.

We were there early last month . Stupidly got to the airport a few hours early for a Hobart-Melbourne flight- but there was no one at the QF counter (to drop off bag until about 50 minutes before the flight). I guess theoretically the lounge could have been open but we had no way of getting in until then! I recall they did come around at boarding time telling everyone to leave - must have been last QF flight.

Was their earlier in the year but it was standing room only… it was actually more relaxing out in the terminal!

Exactly. I've written in TRs many times that the HBA QP is a waste of space and you are better off in the terminal. Given how coughpy the terminal is (wooden benches ... ) that's saying something.
