I've got a quick (70 min) Intl to Dom connection later today after a QF schedule change so every minute may count. If I miss the flight I'll need to wait another 3 or 4 hours for the next flight.

I'm flying AKL-SYD in J and can be in Row 1 or Row 6. Can anyone shed light as to which door the A330 usually disembarks from?

2L on all my recent A330 and 789 flights.

@QF029
If you are booked onto QF146, your inbound aircraft VH-QPE aka QF143 is just taxiing at 1047 (departing approx 1 hr late). and is estimated to arrive in AKL at about 1530hrs (about 1 hr late).

The weather at SYD = reduced visibility to 6nm

The estimated departure of 146 Is likely to be delayed unless they can effect a fast turnaround of 75 minutes.

Looks like your flight has been rescheduled to arrive at 1830.

That should trigger rebooking for your connection (if on the same booking) as now you only have 30 minutes, not a hope in hell of catching that.

less time to kill at SYD
I suppose if 487 is a missed connection, then the only one left is 499

Not sure if it will make a difference to you, but this evening's JQ531 SYD-MEL has been cancelled. So it is possible that some JQ passengers will be shunted to either QF 487 and QF499 potentially making it a full flight.

Thanks for checking. It looks like there are still 2 J seats for sale so I assume they'll move me to one of those imminently.

Have you already checked in at AKL? I would have expected them to sort it out before you leave.

AKL should be able to do that at checkin. If not, you may want to manually check at AKL lounge/checkin and proactively push for spare J seat on 499 - just in case. There might be JQ pax from the 531 in the Y cabin on the 499 🤣

Arrive into SYD around 1900, complete INT-DOM transfers by 2000. 2 hours in QF J lounge with Bar service on Sat evening is civilised.....

As it turns out it was door 1L. I'm on the bus now. 10 mins earlier and I probably would have made it!

Update made it to the gate at 7:01pm so 15 minutes earlier and I should have got on (it was showing as at least 1 J available).

So you didn't have checked luggage?

15 minutes earlier
Once I was on AA from DFW-LAX-SFO. The first sector departed and arrived late and aircraft pulled up adjacent to the aircraft to SFO which raised my hopes. So I only needed get off the aircraft and go to the adjacent gate (no checked luggage). But as I stepped off the aircraft the next aircraft pushed back...

To be fair I don't know exactly when the departing aircraft closed its doors and retracted the aerobridge. But mere minutes? turned into another 4hrs

Qantas has a thing about whether you can make it or not… despite your physical or time abilities they may simply offload you anyway if below minimum connecting time.

Friend was flying business class Finnair connecting to Qantas business in singapore and when the finnair flight was five minutes late for MCT they moved him off the qf flight and on to JQ. They had 45 minutes to make the connection AY-QF - plenty of time at Changi - but QF wasn’t interested.

Yes, that’s what I was referring to here:

I would have expected the rebooking to occur in AKL.
