I am struggling to find a solution to my short haul BA cancelled flight that connect to QF2 (all on same award booking)... LHR restrictions etc...

Looks like oneworld desk declined seats requested to BA on the flight the day before, and I ll call Qantas tomorrow to try and find a solution. But if Qantas says sorry we cant get BA to release an award, tough luck, you can ask a refund... Will it be possible for me to book a paid fare segment over the phone to add to my award ticket? That would probably be some IB flights connecting in Madrid. All I want is everything on the same ticket to be protected.

Damn my trip hasn't started yet that it is already a pita.

Can you please be more specific? Thanks

But in general, you cannot add a sector to an existing booking and make it one booking. Even if both are ticketed by one airline.

However 2 separate bookings by the same airline are as close to being protected as 2 sectors on the one booking.

BA ticketed to QF ticketed has less chance of being protected even though there is a OW alliance agreement

Thanks for the details, that answer my question.

The Hobart agent this morning was not impressed by the lack of explanation from the OW desk who just cancelled the request, she put in two new requests to get some solutions, one from MRS, one from NCE, to get to LHR on time for QF2. I'll update this story on it's thread: "BA canceled and connecting to QF2 award... Is it fixable?" once I have an outcome, I really needed to understand what's possible / what's not in term of mixing paid fare / award fare on same ticket.

Train? Alternatively, there's a story in the media today about someone taking an Uber from France to U.K. after a flight was cancelled 😂
Ub'air quoted me ~2550 AUD
But indeed, if travelling from Paris, the quote would be ~ 800 AUD, which start to make sense especially if you can squeeze 3 or 4 pax. If qualifying for flight cancellation EU regulation, it's more than breaking even. But in the case of the news story, I guess the flight is cancelled due to LHR airport restrictions, which I don't think would qualify for the compensation (extraordinary events).

I'll probably fly Ryanair / Easyjet to STN or GTW if no solutions is found by Qantas/BA. Let's wait and see. Train is not cheap, about 8h with one connection, and subject to sncf summer strike. It's still an option, I'll keep an eye on this.
