I’m only a lowly bronze with a few hundred thousand Qantas points so have booked a trip as below for October/November in cattle class

Syd - madrid
Marrakech - casablanca
Casablanca- Sydney

I didn’t realize it would be better to take the train from Marrakech to Casablanca before booking the flight. Now I want to cancel that leg but Suva Qantas has told me I wouldn’t get any points back with about $6 refund. I’ve heard that team Suva can sometimes give incorrect info so want to try and call again to see if I can get to team Hobart. Based on your experience is that correct that I wouldn’t get any points back? I booked this as multi city classic rewards. Thanks all!

Edit - also found this page where it says points would be refunded

I assume you paid 132,400 points? The cost is the same whether or not you have that Marrakech to Casablanca flight in there. So they are right, you are not due a points refund for cancelling that flight.

Oh I see, I didn’t pay attention to how many points with/without that leg but yes I paid that many points, will do another dummy search to see how much taxes without it. Thanks!

Yeah… if the flights are all on the same day, without a stopover, it’s calculated on total distance for the day. So dropping the sector may make no difference given it’s so short.

If it has been a stopover in Casa then sector fares would have applied, and it would have cost extra points, which could have been refunded.
